Being a mechanic is a great career choice for anyone who likes working with their hands on cars, motorcycles, boats, airplanes, or any other type of engine. Some of the great advantages to being a mechanic are things like: being able to work on your own vehicles, lower cost on vehicle repair, knowledge in everyday vehicle use and many opportunities to learn more through great programs offered by technical schools that work specifically with you to reach your goals as an everyday mechanic. Being a mechanic also offers the opportunity to be a business owner and reach more opportunities through that. Mechanics can go to school for years to learn all about the craft and have a degree in what automotive workers do ,but if schooling isn’t for you, sometimes all you need is knowledge that you have learned from a skilled person who knows the trade well. That is one of the amazing things about working on cars and working in the automotive field is that you can get education in a very specific field of automotive work and do exactly what you want to do. Some mechanics work on common cars driven by people to and from work. Some mechanics work on racecars that go 300 mph and travel a quarter mile in less that 4 seconds. Some mechanics work on airplanes used for commercial flights or military use. Some mechanics work on boats and naval vessels of all kinds. Small gas engine mechanics is a huge trade as well.
