Ever since was I little kid interested in learning about how power worked. I was raise in a small town with a big power plant that specialized in producing coal power and enjoy it a lot. My dad worked there day in and day out.I have never been the office type and I enjoy working with my hands. I'm a person that works hard, dawn until dusk sometimes . Putting my all into something i do makes me have great pride in my job and life. I enjoy knowing that I help people power their lives so everyone can have lights on. Im choosing to become a lineman for Puget Sound Energy to help others even though there are possibilities that it can make my life not as exciting. Around 30 to 50 workers in every 100, 000 are killed on the job every year. Many others suffer non-fatal loss of limbs from electrical burns and mechanical trauma. That's more than twice the fatality rate of police officers and firemen. I don’t really need to point this one out but I could get shocked to death from grabbing the wrong power line. There's a lot more dangers in this job then the eye can see. For example i could park my service truck out on the side of the road put some cones up. You think people will go slow around you ,but no that's never really the case They could crash into the back of my truck launching me out of it. The benefits of this job is that it's really easy to get into couple weeks of school then you get put on a waiting list for about a week then before you know what happen you making bank. I mostly knew a lot about the job because my uncle works for the power line men. I think this career will be good for me at least when i'm 35 then i would like to find a different job that doesn’t take a toll on your body. Mechanic would be a bad job to settle down and take when im older. It's more of a laid back kind of job that's really fun.
