Between 1564 and 1616, William Shakespeare lived and raved as a poet, playwright, and actor in Stratford upon Avon. When Shakespeare was alive, cars were not yet invented. Although Shakespeare did not have a car, we can image what he would drive based on different aspects such as wealth, distance traveled, and social status. I believe that Shakespeare would drive a red 1962 Ferrari 250 GTE.
I believe that Shakespeare would drive a 1962 Ferrari based on his wealth. When Shakespeare was growing up he did not have a lot of money. However, as he began to age and his acting/writing career began to take off he grew more and more wealthy. Marilee Hanson said that “Shakespeare was not poor, but he was not wealthy either. In his middle age, he was comfortably well off. He was able to purchase the second largest house in Stratford in 1597, and also owned property in London.” (Hanson, 1). According to the A&E Network Television’s biography of William Shakespeare, “It is believed that Shakespeare spent most of his time in the city writing and acting and came home once a year during the 40-day Lenten period, when the theaters were closed. (A&E Network Television, 1). Back then Shakespeare would not have driven that many miles everyday due to the fact that he would only come home for a short period of when the theater was closed. Because Shakespeare wouldn’t of drove many miles he would not need a car that had good gas milage. The 1962 Ferrari would be a good fit for him because the car gets 13.8 miles per hour (Powel, 1).
