Today we use electronics for almost everything whether it is for games, or communication, or for looking up information that is needed. Some people believe that that they could not live without their electronics; like it was another part of their body. While others believe that electronics are not a necessity; that they can live their lives without ever picking up any form of electronics. Either way it has been a long debated topic. It is a debate on whether to get rid of electronics or not to get rid of them. It is not a debate that is being done politically; it is mostly done personally within families, and it probably will be debated for a lot longer.
Some people believe that, yes, we do need electronics. One argument they address is we need it because of gaming and the benefits of it. At the University of Wisconsin researchers are convinced that the test of the future will look like the video game called Crystals of Kaydor. Crystals of Kaydor is a role playing video game about aliens. The researchers designed this game to measure children’s learning in real time, while taking their brain and rewiring it to be more empathetic. The video game offers a potentially transformative response to two debated questions in the world of testing: Whether digital technology can effectively blur the lines between assignments to instruction, or how educators can better gauge social and emotional skills of children. “Our job is to provide compelling examples of what assignments can be,” said Constance Steinkuehler, associate professor of education at the University of Wisconsin and former White House analyst. Mrs. Steinkuehler and her team are working with the university’s Center for Investigating Healthy Minds. This is headed up by a renowned...

It is often believed that children are better off spending more time reading books and less time zoning out in front of their video games. People claim that video games sanction and promote aggression and violent responses to conflict; and that most games are an immense waste of time. Steven Johnson, the author of “Why Games Are Good for You,” appreciates the virtues of reading books, but argues that playing video games may not be a complete waste of time. His purpose for writing this essay is to explain the impact of cybertechnology on human perception and communication, in which he defends the value of computer games. In his essay, Johnson fluctuates between the pros and cons of reading versus gaming to appeal to skeptics who believe video
Over the past few decades, technology has advanced significantly. The use of calculators, computers, and other techniques in many fields has increased. On a large scale, technology is replacing traditional methods of instruction in the field of education. Many people believe that adopting technology in the learning process can increase productivity. However, David Gelernter, a professor at Yale University and a leading figure in the field of technology, suggests limiting the use of technology in the classroom in his article “Unplugged: The Myth of Computers in the Classroom,” published in the New Republic magazine in 1994.
By far the largest concern of technology today is video games. There have been so many experiments and studies to try and figure out if video games have a negative or positive effect on our children. A growing body of research is linking violent video game play to aggressive cognitive, attitudes and behaviors (D.A. Gentile, 2004). Video games can obviously be dangerous for our children causing aggression, bad performances in school and obesity. Although we cant blame all of these problems on the use of video game...
I would like to address the negative and positive effects video games have on their players. I will also mention that due to both of these, they make video games multi-dimensional.
Within technology comes the gateway to almost everything that is out in the internet, it opens a whole new world to the students and the teachers that use them. The outcome of the uses, if they happen to be good or bad, come from the restrictions and the management of usage of said technology inside a classroom. Educators see firsthand how the used in their daily lives influence how a student learns. Thanks to technology not only has students and teachers changed the ways they learn and teach, learning itself has changed as well. It is not only crucial to have the technological tools needed in a classroom, but also an educator that can mend and mold the technology to their rightful use. The use of technology in a classroom not only expands the tools and gadgets, not to mention adds much needed knowledge that will help students later on in life, but also brings a whole new and better way to teach and learn.
Education always tries to be as efficient as possible, and so the combination with technology, was inevitable. From the blackboard to the whiteboard and from the overhead projector to the computer projector, there has always been gradual up-scaling of technology in the classroom. Information technologies are keeping suit, and are being adopted into schools with open arms. Some schools, especially colleges, even go so far as to require computers (McCune pg. 3). Well over half of the schools in the United States today have been upgraded to include
New technologies can either enhance the learning process of an individual or even present a somewhat bigger challenge to the professors in a classroom setting. In essence, the topic on technology and education has been a concern for parents, teachers, school officials, and in some cases, the students. Everyone wants to know if technology is going to help children learn more by making a difference in the in the way teaching is currently being done in the classrooms. Most people have questioned the cost of bringing in new technology, for instance, if it can be ...
Not many people would argue that computer technology is bad for the K-12 classroom. There is, however, a serious and thought-provoking debate going on regarding computer technology in the classroom. At issue is to what extent and at what age should computers be integrated in American classrooms. There is no question that a certain level of technology will bring improvements in academic achievement. In one study on children of low socioeconomic status a definite improvement was seen. It was noted that, “Increasing the technology available to students encourages, facilitates, and supports student achievement – at the elementary level, the most profound effects were found in the area of mathematics” (Page 391). Page also states that, “numerous studies have demonstrated that young children’s self-esteem or self-concept directly affects their academic performance” (Page 391).
Schools throughout the world have been incorporating technology into the classrooms of students for quite a few years. Teachers use technology as a tool to help students use different programs and to find information for various things. In this day in age, the internet is so advanced that students can finish assignments in less time because they have the ability to type and research online. Before technology, students had to search through books at the library and handwrite or use typewriters to finish assignments which took longer and could become more of a hassle if a mistake was made. There are many advantages and disadvantages with incorporating technology in the classroom. Advantages to using technology in the classroom include, it is easier to find a larger quantity of information for various assignments, it makes learning more fun for students, it helps students learn at their own pace which helps them to accelerate when
Prior to my search, I was curious to why computers were not as effective as the general public assumed, as Oppenheimer had concluded. Dr. Herr, a professor of Education at California State Univerisity, Northridge, and my Methods of Teaching Science instructor, provides his seminars with ample uses for computers in education. This gave me the desire to further pursue the value of computers in the classroom on a larger scale; incorporating views and opinions nationwide.
The introduction of technology into education has revolutionized the teaching quality and learning outcome in the last ten years. The integration of technology into lectures by teachers in classroom has become so natural that both teachers and learners consider computers and their related applications for instruction are “a routine component of the classroom and educational processes in general” (Nuldén, 1999 cited in Buzzard et al., 2011, pp.131-139).
Teens productively use electronics all the time in their everyday lives. You can use electronics to help you in school or to help you learn. A lot of people use computers or phones to help them with their homework. You can use an online dictionary to look up words or you can look on google

From classroom activities to space flight and everything in between, computers are a vital part of daily life. Everything we do and every aspect of our life is affected by modern technology like the computers. Computers let us dissect any sort of data. Computers makes us reflect, hence we develop. Because of computers and the Internet, we can talk with individuals from diverse nations, and even see them via webcam. Computers have their weaknesses like they have a negative effect on individuals' health. One of the risky parts of any machine is the screen. Computers make individuals dependent. Computers are hampering individuals' improvement in regular life. We don't read printed books any longer, since we can listen and read on the web. We invest more of a chance talking online than talking face to face. Overuse of machines has numerous negative impacts, for example, creating physical/behavioral sicknesses, harming family connections and diminishing scholarly study.
