In March 2005, “Home,” a debut single by Michael Buble, was released in the United Kingdom. The song received a low promotion when it was first released. In fact, there was no music video released either. However, when Michael Buble’s second major-label studio album “It’s Time” was released three months later, “Home” had become the album’s second single worldwide. Fortunately, the song became a huge hit, reached a high chart position in Canada, and became successful in the United Kingdom. This time, the song was released along with a music video directed by Noble Jones. This song became part of the soundtrack of the film “The Wedding Date” (“Home”).
As a matter of fact, there are two cover versions of this song that have been released by other artists. One of them was covered by the Irish boy band, Westlife. That version was a top hit in several European countries. Afterward, Blake Shelton, an American country music singer released his version in 2008. The country version reached the top of the single chart of American country music (Hackett). Next, in December 2011, Buble performed the song as a duet with English singer Gary Barlow. That performance brought the song more popularity, because it became a worldwide trending topic on Twitter. Shortly afterward, the song was available for digital download and gained so much attention from fans.
The reason behind the creation of this song was Buble’s absence from his fiancée, Debbie Timuss, while touring. He expressed his desire to come home because he felt lonely. The song “Home” by Michael Buble is very delightful. It has beautiful lyrics with deep meaning that screams out pain for being away from home. The song is easy to listen to and matches with many people’s experiences. The song might become a pain killer for many people who suffer in long distance relationships, because it best describes their feelings.

With the music composed by lead vocalist and guitarist Patrick Stumpand all lyrics penned by bassist Pete Wentz, it was the bands first top 10 hit and it launched there career. In an interview with Rolling Stone that he slurred the lyrics in the chorus on purpose to make it sound better and he wanted the song to be a fun punk song. During the writing of the song, the band made 30 changes to it. He said that he saw the lyrics first time he sung it out loud and it sounded excellent so he came up with the rest. I have chosen this song because it brings back so so many significsant memories in my life, such as the first time my family went to America, this song was played almost 5 times every day on the radio. It is also a very lively, energetic song that can turn a frown upside-down in a second. Even when I am having a horrible day, when I get home and listen to this song it makes my day so much better and always brings a smile to my face. My first song I´ve chosen is Sean McGee, song titled My Story. Mainly the song is about him facing different struggles, obstacles, and all the horrible things and situations he´s been in throughout his life. I can connect to this song and the lyrics for many reasons. One of his lines were ¨Do you know how it feels to be left out in the rain¨? And I have faced times like this when I feel like no one is there or have my back, and in the line he´s trying express how it feels to have nobody and be all alone. Also throughout this song he expresses how everyday you wake up your face with something rather it's just a minor issue or something that will greatly impact your life.

Author Christine Mitchell’s “When Living is a Fate Worse Than Death” told the story of a girl Haitian named Charlotte. Charlotte was born with her brain partially positioned outside of her cranium which had to be removed or she would have not survived. Her skull had to be concealed by a wrap in order not to cause further damage. Charlotte was born with less brain cells which allowed her only to breath and not feel much of the pain. Charlotte’s parents thought that the doctor’s in Haiti did not know what was best for their daughter. The doctors in Haiti thought Charlotte should not be resuscitated, undergo anymore horrible treatments and die peacefully. Charlotte’s parents were not happy with the doctor’s guidelines and thought the United States medical care would have better technology and could save their daughter. The English student in me has been trained to look for the thesis statement. If an English teacher asked me to summarize “Kansas City” I would point to this line. Bob says it up and down ten times over throughout the song but this is his point. His lesson. His thesis. And it should break a person’s heart. If you are over the age of say maybe twelve it also both define and terrify you. It’s called growing up. Moving on. Making choices or more like accepting the only choice you have.
Claudia Rankine analyzes racism to its core, bringing to surface that miniscule events are just as problematic as televised ones. Her words are beautifully brutal, striking up emotions for anyone that reads it. As readers, we are taken through a journey from past to present events of racial incidents experienced by different genders and ages. Above all, Rankine provides a strong indication that racism is far from over.
Most people define home as a comfortable setting which provides love and warmth. In Scott Sanders “Homeplace” and Richard Ford’s “I Must Be Going” the concept of home is defined in two different ways. Sanders believes that by moving from place to place, the meaning of home has been diminished. Sanders believes that America’s culture “nudges everyone into motion” (Sanders 103) and that his “longing to become an inhabitant rather than a drifter” (103) is what sets him apart from everyone else. Ford prefers to stay on the move. His argument is life’s too short to settle in one place. He believes home is where you make it, but permanence is not a requirement.

“The House That Built Me” by Miranda Lambert is a song that tells the story of a woman going back to visit her childhood home after experiencing life as an adult. The speaker discusses how she identifies her home with the memories and experiences that have molded her into the person she becomes, but she feels that something is missing from her life. She believes that going back to “the house” will help her recover her true sense of self. When my childhood home was sold, I experienced a deep sense of loss. Like the speaker in the song, I felt that I was missing pieces of myself for many years afterwards. Just as the speaker learns that it is not the tangible house that keeps her memories alive, but herself, I eventually learned that while letting go of the “house” I grew up in was difficult, I would carry the memories and experiences of growing up there within my heart.
