ADVANTAGES:
A cellular tower is basically a low power, multi-channel two-way radio, which communicates with individual phones. According to the U.S Food and Drug Administration, the FCC (Federal Communication Commission) and the zoning board which consists of the members of the cell phone companies maintain that the cell towers do not pose any kind of health hazards to public. As per the report of The American Cancer society and the WHO(World Health Organization) they did not find any evidence of adverse health effects of RF signals. There is always a specific threshold level of radiation to cause mayhem to public health. And as per standards set by the governing bodies the energy level emitted by cell phone towers are lower than what we are actually exposed to in our homes since appliances such as microwave ovens emits much higher radiation. Moreover the energy radiating from cell tower is much less as compared to other types of radiation UV rays , X rays which can cause cancer. The Cell Tower and cell phones connecting to it, emit radio-frequency energy, which is similar to radio and television. There are two types of antennae one is that which broadcasts wave horizontally, the other Vertically. The radiation from cellular phone tower travels parallel to the ground ie directly towards the horizon and moreover the radiation power level decreases as one move away from the tower and thus the level of exposure is minimum at the ground level. Added advantage of cell phone tower is increase in data rate and cellular network coverage, increase in capacity, reduction in call congestion, reduction in call drop. Also it will provide and create jobs for people in the coverage area. Also if the people oppose the cellular tower due to ob...

... cellular tower providers have clearly stated arguments with supportive reports of FCC, WHO and American Cancer Society. Additionally, addressing the concern of the people regarding the spoilage of a great view and the tower obstructing it, the cellular providers can have plans of hiding tower that can be placed by changing its geometric structure in plain sight. And with this adjustment that is with the hidden view of the tower there will not arise any questions regarding decline in the property value. Now, the arguments on construction noise and traffic cannot be considered as justified points since they are temporary till the tower is totally set up since once it is set up there it will be of much beneficial to the village home owners itself. And even if the home owners do not agree, under the law of Eminent Domain cellular tower providers can install the tower.
...state and local governments to drastically revise the skyscraper building codes in the United States. It would cost far too much money to implement all of the standards that are being requested by state legislatures. In addition, there are many methods that have proven to be more effective means of reducing the threat of terrorism surrounding this country. Though some of the suggested codes have been passed and are now currently in the code, an instant change to building regulations is unlikely. The need for many of these modifications is still under debate and their fates are yet to be determined. Good has come out of the efforts to modify high-rise construction codes, but the potentially beneficial aspects are far outweighed by the negative. Skyscrapers stand tall despite the terrible events of 9/11 and should not be unnecessarily altered because of them.
It could be argued that the greatest architectural structure ever created by Canadians is the CN Tower. Construction on the CN Tower first started on February 6, 1973 and finished on June 26, 1976. The CN Tower was considered to be a breakthrough when it was first created because it broke a record set previously. Once the CN Tower was complete it gained the title as the “world’s tallest free-standing structure” at 1815.4 feet. The creation of the CN Tower was a defining moment for Canada and still impacts Canadians today. One reason why the CN Tower was a defining moment is because it solved a communication problem that the city of Toronto was experiencing at that time. Another reason why the CN Tower is important is because it helps our economy by attracting many tourists every year. The most important reason why the CN Tower was a defining moment is because it gives Canadians a sense of inspiration and national pride.
The building of the CN tower was not just to have another huge building rising out of the ground and identifying a city. This tower actually had a very practical use in the city. In the early 1960’s there was a huge boom in the engineering construction in the Toronto area. This resulted in a number of buildings rising over hundreds of feet. In order to solve this problem, a tower was built to rise above all of these buildings and stop the problem with communications. With the microwave towers rising to over 338m, and the antenna rising to the top of the ...
Large doses of radio waves are believed to cause cancer, leukaemia and other disorders. Some people claim that the very low frequency field from overhead power cables near their homes has affected their health. Microwaves Microwaves are basically extremely high frequency radio waves, and are made by various types of transmitter. In a mobile phone, they're made by a transmitter chip and an antenna, in a microwave oven they're made by a "magnetron". Their wavelength is usually a couple of centimetres.
When I began this project of cellular communications. I was very focused on trying to prove that cellphones are bad. I saw people all over the Community College’s campus with their heads down, their headphones on, or their phone to their ear. No one seemed to be “here” anymore. Everyone was involved in their own worlds that others were not invited to, and they seemed to prefer it that way.
Cell phone technology has been around for over twenty years. It has only been the last ten years where it has integrated completely into our lives and changed how we communicate with each other. Entire social rules of interaction were completely changed. Now you could be reached at anytime. It seemed like having a cell phone guaranteed some level of privacy from others around you. But what about your own privacy? With the technology revolution that has been taking place there seems to be no focus on personal relationships. The entire English language has been chopped up and shortened into meaningless letters and phrases It has caused loss of human interaction and expression in our modern daily lifestyles.
The first effect is the fact that it can greatly affect peoples sleep patterns in a bad way (American Academy of Sleep). For instance, Studies show that only 50 minutes of cell phone use increases brain cell activity. This means that it wears your brain out, making you more tired. Also phones that were turned off did not create the same brain cell activity as it did when it was on. Another example, would be the fact that it has not yet been fully proven that the cell phone has any danger to your health at all(Dellorto, Danielle). Also, The radiation from the cell phones affects younger people more because their skulls are thinner making it easier for the radiation to penetrate deeper into the skull. This is makes teenasgers more at risk than adults. Also, in order for the brain to be impacted the cell phone needs to be close to your head. Also, The radiation from the from the cell phones has been proven to cause sleep insomnia. Its different for everyone for how the cell phone can affect you. Some people don’t get enough sleep because of phones and some aren’t able to sleep because of them, and some are not affected at all.
Cellular phones are a phenomenon that has engulfed people in the nineties. They have become a common occurrence whether you are waiting in line at the super market or in a movie theatre. One professor at Murray State University said, “Many students are carrying them, I had a student get a call in the middle of a test last semester.” Although many people have accepted the thought of carrying a telephone wherever they go, others have not taken the onslaught of cell phones quite so easily. Cell phones have become part of everyday life, and with the dramatic changes that have been made, there is no sign of their existence diminishing. Today, cellular service is available in all 306 Metropolitan Statistical Areas across the country and all of the 428 Rural Service Areas.
Cell phones have gradually become a large part of a person’s life. A person’s day usually starts and ends by using a phone. People may argue that this is false, but for many, their alarm is on their phone, and that is the first sound they hear in the morning, followed by the action of turning it off. Even looking at the time of day requires someone to turn on their phone. Even though a cell phone might be the most innovative item on the market that makes everyone’s lives easier, it could end up harming them from many different aspects. This paper will focus on scientific, economic, and environmental point of views.
Cell phones use radio frequencies to transmit signals. Radio Frequencies (RF) are a form of electrical waves similar to those used in radios, microwaves, radars or satellite stations. They are emitted from a transmitter, and received using an antenna. This telephony technology is restricted geographically to small zones called “Cells”. Every cell has a base station capable of sending and receiving radio waves. When a call is started a signal leaves the handheld unit headed to the closest base station. This station answers by allocating a specific channel to the unit. When this “channel” is established, modulated radio frequency signals are both received and transmitted. The head of the user is in the near field of use because the distance from the antenna to the head is a few centimeters. (Blettner & Berg 2000) If the antenna is inside the body of the phone, the exposure to Radio Frequencies is greater. The antenna might be requesting a stronger signal to contest with the interference of the battery or the actual shell of the phone’s body.
Brain tumors and eye cancer are two health concerns of cell phones that are currently under investigation. Many people have heard rumors about whether or not cell phones are responsible for these health problems, but answers never seem to be found.
The effects of technology on society will always be a double edged sword. The debate is a never ending one, in which both sides have valid and compelling arguments. The Industrial Revolution reduced manual labor in the long run, but had negative consequences such as child labor and sweatshop conditions. Nuclear Power reduces the cost of producing energy, but raises serious environmental issues like pollution and radiation. In this day in age refusing to assimilate to at least some form of modern living is simply not an option. One invention causing controversy today that has yet to cease being alter, modified, and “improved” since its debut is the ever present cell phone.
First of all, using mobile phone has the negative effect of affecting the health. The scientific data are exploring the relationship between radiation from mobile phones and brain disease. "Research carried out by scientists in Finland suggests radiation from mobile phones causes changes in the brain. It is the first time that scientists have looked at the effects of mobile phone radiation on human cells rather than those of rats"(BBC NEWS, 19 Jun 02 | Health, "Fresh fears over mobile phones"). From above we must understand that research did find a higher incidence of brain tumors on the same side as phone usage.
A mobile phone is a telephone that can make and receive calls over a radio
Cell phones represent a type of technology that has been around for more than over fifty years; it has only been recently that many people began to use cell phones as a major part of their everyday life. In the past cell phones were for business people to conduct their business, but in today’s society every one owns a cell phone. Cell phones are interesting, useful and also play a major role in our life’s bringing people closer and keeping in touch with one another. Most people do not know and understand the physics of a cell phone. Cell phones are also known as cellular phone, hand phone, and commonly known as a mobile phone. A cell phone is an electric device that can make and receive calls, over and automatic repeat request (radio link petrol -RLP) used over wireless air interdace.it us a portable telephone that uses and receive phone signals.it also divides that earth into small regional called cells.in the resent estimates there are over 190 million people using mobile phone. One of the primary health concerns is the impact of cell phone radiation, by radio waves by which it operates.
