Adoption
The “Love of My Life” is a brief story about a college couple’s love for each other. Unfortunately, they had unprotected sex. Instead of considering another way out, the girl insisted that her boyfriend throw the infant in a dumpster and leave it to die. Instead of leaving the infant to die, she should have put the baby up for adoption for another family. If she would have done that, a family who either could not have children, or just liked the idea of adoption, could have adopted the child. There are various reasons why people decide to adopt. Some say adoption is the best thing for certain children or parents and many successful stories prove it to be true. However there are also negative outcomes of adoption. Negative or positive outcomes can affect the adoptive parents, the adoptees, and even the birth parents. An unknown author once said that adoption isn’t a mother holding a baby in her stomach, but in her heart. The way that the adoptive child is raised is completely up to their new parents. Although there are many different types of families in today's society, adoption is one of the unique ways to raise a family. Some of the main forms of adoption include opened adoption, closed adoption, international adoption, domestic adoption, and interstate adoption.
Believe it or not, the idea of adopting is considered ancient. One of the most well-known adoptions comes from the Bible in which Pharaoh’s daughter took baby Moses from a basket floating down the Nile. She raised him as her own, and ever since adoption has been made known to society.
