Edgar Allan Poe

Edgar Allan Poe was born on January 19, 1809. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts. His father abandoned the family and mother died the year after he left his sance man when it came to his explorations of the written word.. He was an orphan with a troubled childhood who became America’s first great lyric poet, the inventor of the modern detective story, a pioneer of science fiction, and the master of the macabre. Over forty years, Poe became the first internationally influential American writer.

He wrote Romantic poems of love and death like “The Raven.” He also wrote tales of terror like “The Black Cat,” and “The Cask of the Amontillado.” With his stories “Murders in the Rue Morgue,” “The Mystery of Marie Roget,” and “The Purloined Letter,” Poe became the father of modern detective fiction, but that’s not all. He also wrote science fiction. “A Descent into the Maelstrom” and “The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar” are just two of Poe’s stories that expanded the style and creativity of the science fiction genre. Besides writing prose and poetry, Poe was a literary critic who got into plenty of hot water with his literary brethren because of his scathing reviews of their work. Poe was fearless when it came to ridiculing the works of other writers. Poe was a great and famous writer.

Summary of The Black Cat

The man in this story loves animals and has a lot of them. Taking care of his pets and hanging out with them is his favorite thing to do. He marries a wife. His wife loves animals too, and fills the house with them. One of these is a all black cat named Pluto. When the man starts drinking, his personality takes a turn for the worse. Years went by and Mr. Hooper still had the same black veil. Elizabeth had stayed with him throughout the years and was there for him next to his dying bed. The minister who was praying for him asked Mr. Hooper to remove the black veil, to see his face that had hidden since his childhood. He didn’t want him to see his face so bad that he spent his last breaths struggling with the other minister to keep the veil on.

His stories relate to his life because of his childhood. He had a very

rough childhood. He went to mean different foster homes because his

father left and his mother died a year later. That is why most of his stories are about love or death. As in The Black Cat and The Ministers Black Veil. that is how Edgar Allan Poe’s life has came into play with his stories.
