In order for one to understand sleep disorders we first need to learn about two basic types of sleep. The first type of sleep is known as REM, Rem is the body’s ability to dream and to relax. The second type of sleep is NON-REM, NON-REM is commonly known as deep sleep and slow wave sleep. The next factor in understanding sleep is the sleep wake cycle that is known as Biological Rhythms. During the day our body’s cycle follows patterns that provide us with energy surge in the morning and slowly dip in the afternoon. These patterns are there to allow us to work hard during the morning and then rest at night. Rest is a crucial part in our daily lives as when we rest our body is given time to support healthy brain function and to maintain physical health.
The next step to our understanding of sleep disorders is to understand exactly what sleep disorders are? Sleep disorders are problems with sleeping, including trouble falling or staying asleep, falling asleep at the wrong times, too much sleep, or irregular behaviors during sleep. Sleep is a indicator of ones overall health, those suffering from sleep problems might have an underlying medical or mental health problem. Sleeping well is essential to our physical and emotional well-being. Minimal sleep loss can take a toll on our mood, energy, efficiency and ability to handle stress. Ongoing sleep problems and disorders can lead to poor health, accidents, work performance and relationship stress.

There are many different types of sleep disorders with the most common being “Insomnia”. Insomnia is the inability to get the amount of sleep you need to wake up feeling rested and refreshed. Insomnia is often a symptom of another problem such as stress, anxiety, depression etc. Insomnia...

3. Feeling weak and loosing control of your muscles when laughing, angry or other emotions
4. Having intense dreams
5. Feeling paralyzed when falling asleep or waking up.

In conclusion, it is obvious all humans need sleep. It is not only the quantity that matters but also the quality of sleep. Without sleep, there are many repercussions of ill mental and physical health. Many sleep disorders can disrupt ones sleeping habits, however it can be managed and treated. There are many techniques that can be used to enhance the amount and quality of sleep one gets. Although it may be difficult to set a new pattern for sleeping, it will be indefinitely beneficial and may increase your lifespan. Through this research, it is obvious that sleep is necessary and is able to be had for a reason.
