Fashion is a word that can mean many different things. To some it means what models wear on the runway. To others, fashion means the clothing styles that people wear on a daily basis. A good place to start this discussion would be to define what Fast Fashion is; it is the rapid conversion of design trends into multi-channel volume. Fast Fashion may be the most significant disruptive in the retail industry today. Troublesome novelties, or product or services, that alter an prevailing market by presenting minimalism, suitability, convenience and affordability, have the most positive influence on a company. Because fashion is ever changing and technology is always evolving the amount of production time it takes for something to be manufactured …show more content…
Followed by the brand 's global growth at the end of the 1980s and the following takeoff of new retail ideas: Customer focus reinforces a basic groundwork that encompasses all stages of a fashion value chain (design, industrial, delivery and sale in patented stores). Therefore their consumer promise is also the force behind the combination of their environmental and preservation guidelines used through the group 's supply chain. Zara, has been a groundbreaker in conveying new fashions, new designs, and new ideas rapidly to its stores. Zara’s tenacious thrust of on-trend products into the supply chain channel keeps its stores in stock on the latest fashions at lucrative prices. Lots of their new concepts have come from some of the fashion shows that just ended in New York, Paris and Milan will soon be on Zara’s racks. The sign of moving products promptly from a designer’s table to the retail sales floor has swayed the whole global retail commerce and enticed rivalry. Customers value a “new look” that can be worn for this instant and assess the goods as a monetary fortune; not something that you will keep …show more content…
Using real-time data can remove this possible risk. Fashion has become an evolutionary extension and amplification of formerly existing fashion. In conclusion, although fast fashion has become a rising trend because of consumer awareness the drawbacks of fast fashion is also on the rise because of augmented realization around climate change, resource deficiency, financial circumstances, the slow-fashion crusade, and ill-fated accidents like the Rana Plaza collapse in Bangladesh that happened in October of 2013, as well as hard-hitting, visually awkward movements from organizations such as Greenpeace. The more people start to become more conscious about the disadvantages of Fast Fashion this is one trend that will soon
Fashion in the 21st century is a big business, as its production employs millions of people and generates billions of dollars in revenue. Fashion has for the past century been, and is still today, used as an indicator of social change and progress, as it changes with the social norms of the society and the political changes of the world (Finkelstein 3). The business model that sets Zara apart from other clothing retailers is how rapidly the company changes stocks and releases new product lineups. The company averages 12-16 collections annually which equates to more than one lineup a month. Due to stock being limited and the rapid production Zara brings forth, their items are viewed as exclusive promoting further business. Their customers are happy knowing that their specific article of clothing is more “rare” due to only having an average of a two-week window to purchase the clothing. The company specifically targets current trends and has them in the store within 30 days. This maintains the brand’s uniqueness and relativity in fashion.
In other news, the renewal of the image has continued throughout Zara stores in all major global cities. The Inditex website’s news article states, “All the new openings and refurbishments have implemented Inditex’s eco-efficient standards, which now cover more than 2,200 of the Group’s stores worldwide.” (Inditex). The Zara brand is incorporating a more economically friendly shopping environment and promotes environmentally friendly campaigns to drive sustainability from its stores to the industrial and logistics facilities through the complete supply chain.
The Fashion Industry can be described as a glamorous world with cameras flashing, beautiful models strutting down the runway, in stunning and grand designs. What really goes on behind fashion’s dolled up doors is only an illusion compared to what reality is. Beautiful people, stylish clothing and timeless sophistication all make up the illusion of the glitz and glam of the fashion industry, but behind the curtains countless of models and designers constantly fall victim to this industry’s ever changing wrath. Fashion can be defined as a popular trend especially in styles of dress, ornaments or behavior. A model is a person who poses or displays for art purposes, fashion or other products and advertising. Fashion models are used mainly to promote products focusing mostly on clothing and accessory. The two main type of modeling in the fashion industry is commercial modeling and high fashion modeling. High Fashion models usually work for campaigns, designer’s collections and magazine editorials for high fashion designers. Runway modeling also known as “catwalk modeling” is displaying fashions and is generally performed by high fashion models. In my research paper, my main focus will be the multiple effects on high fashion models based upon the industry’s unregulated standards.

Fashion is an outlet people use to express themselves. People anxiously wait to see what the next trends are as seasons pass by. We buy anything that doesn’t break a bank, people buy a $10 shirt just because it’s cheap and they might not even wear it, but it’s all right, since it wasn’t expensive. As harmless and normal as that scenario sounds, the fashion industry has created the harmful concept that is “fast fashion”, in which stores sell an abundance of extremely cheap trendy clothing and “where deliveries are small and often, with stock delivered twice a week, for instant-access fashion.” (Cochrane)
Consumers tend to be more demanding and more arbitrary, so use appropriate strategy will be critical to all fast fashion retailers.
Many people think fashion is just all about design or the clothing that you wear. In fact, the definition is “a popular way of dressing during a particular time or among a particular group of people” (Fashion). Well personally, I think that have got it wrong, and there are many more things about fashion that people do not realize. Consumerism and consumption play a huge role on what fashion is today and what goes into it, and not just about design or designers, but also socially and environmentally. Consumerism and consumption impact the social and environmental aspect of the fashion industry because of what people buy, why they buy things, what type of things they look for in terms of quality or brand, and also where they go to shop.
Sweatshops are often ignored by the public eye and neglected by the Western community, because of how they [sweatshops] greatly contribute to the Western concept of fast fashion. Disregarded by the media, it seems that the removal of sweatshops all across the world, is impossible to acquire. The demand for fast fashion, a contributor of sweatshops, is so excessive and imprudent that our Earth cannot keep up with it as it replenishes its resources.
For many centuries, people had designed creative fashion that have some ambiguous message behind the stylish clothing they wore.
