Introduction
When responding to others, we must be aware about how we address people as well as we respond to their questions. Some people are not as sensitive as others depending on what the topic may be about and we may somehow offend them based on our responses. When responding to others, it is best to listen to what they are talking about before we address the issue. Communicating is an important trait that people should possess in order to function in society. Lacking this skill can mean the difference between being an effective or non-effective listener.
How to Respond to Others
Responding to others can be done in different ways, we can do it verbally or we can do it non-verbally. Verbally may consists of our vocal tone, depending on what we are talking about. Non-verbal responses can identified through our body …show more content…

It will allow them to open up to us and tell us more about what they are talking about. Another type of response, is questioning. Asking questions may direct to the person that is talking that you are needing more information regarding the issue they may be having.
Responding to a person by asking probing type questions may possibly make them open up to you and tell you more information that is required regarding the conversation.
Also, this may incline them to think and express their feelings and opinion to you without them even realizing that they are doing it.
Our responses to others are solely based on how effective our communication skills are and how listen. What we say and how we respond is very important and it will determine the outcome of the conversation that we are having with other people. Some people may view our responses as either relevant or irrelevant based on what discussion is about. If they are talking about this, but we are responding about that, we may cause that person to not want to communicate with
