I am the perfect candidate for the BRITE scholarship because I see what the future has in store because of great scientist and researchers. Helping the sick has always been one of my dreams in life. From the time I was in kindergarten until now, I always knew the type of career I wanted to have. Whether it was being a pediatric surgeon, a forensic scientist, pharmacologist or a pharmacist. My first goal is to be at the top of my class and take advantage of the great professors and researchers in the BRITE program. Another reason I am the best candidate for this scholarship is because I am goal driven and determined to be successful. I will not quit trying to reach any goal I set for myself. Even if I fail the first time or first couple of times, I will try again over and over or get help if I need to but I will not stop. The BRITE program was one of the main reasons I decided to attend NCCU. It would be a wonderful opportunity for me to be able to access the many resources at hand to become something great. Being known for their research in drug discovery in particular is what made the program stand out to me because that is exactly what I want to do. I am no stranger to how different drugs can affect the body. I have seen people do drugs that strips them of brain cells and eat away at internal organs. It’s the triumphs as well as the defeats, that I will remember most about my life when I look back in thirty years. If I can look back and say, “I didn’t think I could ever accomplish this, but I gave it my all.” Pursuing the next challenge along with being a well-rounded, compassionate person will allow me to consider my life a success in thirty years. Nothing in my life emulates this attitude towards what I will consider a success, in terms of pushing my limits, in thirty years, than my current pursuit of collegiate level sports.

My contribution to the scholarship aspect will come from my maintaining my high GPA. As well as, continuing to grow my commitment to learning by being eager to do my best academically. Going to college is something that has been drilled into my brain by the public education system since I was in first grade. My passion for public service initiated in my third grade reading class. It was there that I volunteered for “Reading Together USA”, a program to help younger children learn to read.
