Children go to school for seven hours a day, when teachers make them do homework it causes them to get stressed. Furthermore if children understand what they learned at school why do they need to repeat it at home? If children are struggling on a certain subject, teachers should be able to help them directly, not with homework because giving them homework on something they don't know anything about is counterproductive. Many people often say that students, teachers, and parents, think homework should be banned, but multiple people disagree. This heated topic has been debated for many years. Some parents and teachers think students have too much. However, some believe their students receive too little. Few schools already have banned homework, but the majority of schools don’t. Some people agree with having ten minutes multiplied by the grade level of the student. As experts continue adding additional facts about homework, it is clear that homework can help students in different ways.
In ‘’Down with Homework’’ with Alfie Kohn. Kohn believes that homework is a bother to kids. He believes that kids’ lives’ will be easier and less stressful if they didn’t have homework. Homework puts a lot of stress on a kid and the teachers have to remember that these kids are little and that every family is different. Assignee too much homework could result in kid not doing the homework or giving up on school. I agree with Kohn because I’ve been there and I’m observing the same problem with my sisters. Homework is extremely demanding and many students are spending far too many hours after school to complete their homework assignments. Although, some students may be able to whiz right through their homework, other students crawl along struggling at a snail’s pace. Consequently, family time is put on the back burner due to the time constraints of homework. Additionally, any extracurricular activities are also put on hold. Homework is nothing more than a scapegoat for teachers so that they can pawn off their due responsibilities on parents and students. She points out how the quantity of students’ homework is a lot less important than its quality.

The banning of homework would help bring balance back into the lives of students by allowing them to live and enjoy life. There is no reason to give homework because it dumbs a person down. Most people expect for a person to learn a lesson, work on it, and then go home and do work by themselves. It doesn’t work because most students lose the concepts and curriculum that they learn the same day. A student who receives excessive homework "will miss out on active break time essential for learning social skills, proper brain development, and warding off childhood obesity," according to Harris Cooper, Ph. People, normally adults, usually say that homework is the best way for students to improve themselves outside of class time. Yet, they don’t think much about the feelings of the students who were put under the pressure of homeworkoverload. I didn’t say homework is bad academically. In fact, it is really good for students to understand their lesson better by doing work by themselves; as long as they are not overloadedanyway. I’m not against the idea of having more homework for students, but too much would be a different thing that I might consider.
