Millennials women in China, New Challenges and New Life
China’s Millennials is most open mind, ambitious, confident but self-reliant and lonely generation, which never and would not happen in China super long history. Eric Fish’s book, “China millennials”, talked about the story of this new-born unique generation. Be honest, though I’m also a member of this generation, until I have read this book, I didn’t realized there are oceans of challenges could be met. In this article, I would like to argue about challenges faced by millennial women in China.
I think first and the most important challenge bring to mind is the education, which worries all the students in China. In order to enter the college, every student must take the gaokao test. This …show more content…

The main thing is the protest “Occupy Men’s Room”. This is very unique, not only their parents’ generation would not do this, but never think about this. Read through this chapter, I think it is one thing - equal treatment of women (or the author said, “Gender equality”). I believe this challenge is from China’s tradition thinking. This forms long way ago, even communist party try to solve this problem (“Po Si Jiu”, though it’s not a good way as far as now), but not very successful. Consequently, the unequal treatment between men and women haven’t completed removed yet. In my mind, this protest is not just about the men’s room, but the equal treatment. In nowadays, millennial women in China care more about their rights that related everything of their life, like job opportunity or marriage.
In summary, millennial women in China have these all challenges through life, gaokao test challenge when they were students, sexual harassment and unequal treatment in work, and the leftovers problem when they reach the age. They come from family, society, and even themselves. Different than the author Mr. Fish, I think these challenges not all from the government. It’s in China society originally, like a cultural. Something we can’t change. And something we need time to
