Voting is not the same as it used to be. Today we have clear political parties, every citizen can vote, and corruption has gone down to a minimum. Between the years of 1815 and 1840 the rise of voting turnout began. Because of increase of voters, the common mans involvement, and media influences the voting participation and campaign changed. Participation in voting has a huge impact on elections. Without voters there is no election. Without election the Americans would be right back to their old British ways. In Document A the chart shows that from 1812 to 1840 voting increases from 44.4 to 95.8. Through this chart it shows the growth in numbers of peoples participation during those presidential elections. Through this we can assume the working class began to get involved as well as the slaves were granted the right to vote. Martin Van Buren campaigned to voters to keep the parties but make them divided as seen in Document C. Money equaled power, but later politicians sought out the common mans approval in order to take on office. Some people saw this as a great opportunity while others saw it as a fast track down hill. Document B is a northerners campaign against everyone having the right to vote. This applies due to the fact that by everyone voting it will change the result of the votes. This affects the the voting polls as many were uneducated and were unaware of who was the best candidate to vote for. Document D is a ballot in favor of Jackson and the rest of his party that he is running with. This document gets voters involved with its title.
