Project Rainforest: Saving the Green
Sidney Sheldon once said “Try to leave the Earth a better place than when you arrived. Earth will either continue to be green or not at all.” The Rainforest has been on the earth longer than some of us have. Which means that it needs to be here. If it was here before then it should stay here things should be done to help keep it here and not try to make it go away even though it is not initial. At the rate of the Rainforest is being destroyed a lot of animals will go extinct and our future generations will never know about the Rainforest and have the things that we have because of the Rainforest. The Rainforest has an important purpose within the environment. It should not be destroyed or vandalized just because people need farm land and other things. Without the rainforest a lot of people would not survive. It provides biodiversity, medicine, food, oxygen (Rainforests). This is a very scary thought, one day it might just disappear for good due to deforestation and the other harmful things being done with the rainforest. The world’s rain forests could completely vanish with in a hundred years due to the rate of deforestation (Deforestation). Forests are cut down for many reasons, but most of them are related to money or to people’s need to provide for their families. Not all deforestation is intentional. Deforestation can be split up among 4 main factors: 5% caused by cattle ranching, 19% over-logging, 22% from palm oil plantations, and 54% from slash-and-burn farming. They are not the only thing that is causing harm to the rainforest though. There are many other things such as Cash Crops, Shifted Cultivators, Cattle Ranching, Mining Operations, Government interest, and Hydroelectric Projects, and Plam Oil
