Human Trafficking is a universal issue that is still currently happening today. It is a major crime that essentially lets someone take illegal custody of another human’s rights and freedoms. The impacts of human trafficking are crucial and nerve-racking. Victims of such crimes most likely suffer from injuries physically and mentally, abusive behavior, rape, death threats, and life taking. Human Trafficking undermines the safety and security of people and their lives (TIP, 2007). People who are desperate for money and would do anything for little amounts of money would either do drug and gun dealing, or human trafficking. Human Trafficking is the fastest growing business in the world. The number of current slaves in America is less than half of what the number of identified humans who are trafficked (HJHP, 2012). There are many believed reasons for the increase in trafficking in the last decade. In general, the criminal business feeds on poverty, despair, war, crisis, and ignorance. The globalization of the world economy has increased the migration of people across borders, both legally and illegally, mostly from lower class to high class countries. International planned crimes taken full advantage of the more independent flow of people, money, goods and services to extend its own goal internationally (CRS, 2008). Many abusers are being put into jail for rape and abuse to minors and adults. As a community, it is needed to do more interdisciplinary interventions, just to care for the victims of trafficking, but also to help prevent the cause of it. This study examines the research that initially began on October 28, 2000 and spanned through to October 31, 2009. If a human trafficking case occurred in the US, with the victim being under the age of 18, and at least one arrested, indicted or convicted felon, their case would be filed in the data analysis report. This research resulted in the finding of 115 separate incidents of human trafficking, involving at least 153 victims and 215 felons or perpetrators, 117 (53.4%) of them being convicted of their heinous actions. Trafficking is a form of modern slavery because people’s bodies are sold for the gain of others against their wills. The steps that must be taken to prevent sex trafficking involve raising political and social awareness, people working together and the prosecution of traffickers.

One of the more effective policies geared towards human sex trafficking was the Memorandum on Steps to Combat Violence Against Women and Trafficking in Women and Girls. Through this memorandum President Clinton was able to implement an increase awareness of human trafficking. He also made provision to protect the victims with the help of law enforcement to prevent women and girls from being trafficked as well as ensuring that traffickers are severely penalized. President Clinton success of this memorandum was that he not only ensured protection for the victim but also through law enforcement was able to persecute the traffickers. Human Trafficking is basically the trade of humans for sexual slavery, being forced to work, or for commercial exploitation. It happens all over the world, and it is also known as a form of slavery even though slavery is banned in most of the countries where it is practiced. It even affects children. The worst forms of child labor affect an estimated 126 million children around the world (Healey, 2012). I wonder why it affects this many children around the world if it is banned in the countries that is being practiced. Are the people with power not paying enough attention to this crime in order to stop it or at least keep it at a minimum. With girls out there like Susannah getting tricked into the evil trafficking business everyday, it brings much discomfort because these girls are forced to perform sexual activities and are kept in dingy holes and drugged to keep them from retaliating. All this inhumane torture goes on in the trafficking business, and yet the laws are not helping with eliminating these injustices. With each year, those 50,000 women increase; more and more victims are brought into the United States, forced against their will, or promised false futures of working good jobs to bring money back home to their families.

The long victimization of the horrendous crime can lead a person to commit suicide and turn them to drug abuse; thus, cause them to deter faster. Victims can also suffer from long negative effects, such as post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, aggression, anxiety, and many more.
