Should abortion be illegal? Abortion may be caused purposely and is then called an induced abortion, or, less frequently, "induced miscarriage". The word abortion is often used to mean only induced abortions. A similar Pro-abortion is the ending of pregnancy by removing a fetus or embryo before it can survive outside the uterus. An abortion, which occurs spontaneously is also known as a miscarriage. Ancedure after the fetus could potentially survive outside the womb is known as a "late of termination". In a massacre that is almost unspeakable, more than 56 million American babies have been murdered in the United States since Roe v. Wade decided in 1973.

so unborn babies are human beings with a right to life. To begin with, abortions cause psychological damage. Therefore, abortion has caused physical, mental and spiritual damages to the fetuses and the women.
To begin with, Abortion causes psychological damage. According to afterabortion.org,"A study of the medical records of 56,741 California Medicaid patients revealed that women who had abortions were 160 percent more likely than delivering women to be hospitalized for psychiatric treatment in the first 90 days following abortion or delivery." women after getting an abortion were hospitalized for psychiatric treatment. Also from afterabortion.org, "Since many post-abortive women use repression as a coping mechanism, there may be a long period of denial before a woman seeks psychiatric care." Many women experience a period of depression and denial as a means of coping from abortions. So after an abortion, many women have problems with their health. Furthermore, Life begins at conception, so unborn babies are human beings with a right to life. As stated by National Right to live, "For more than 100 years, medical science has known conclusively that every individual's life begins at the moment of fertilization." This means when people perform abortion they are killing human being which have the right to live. Also from National
Right to Live, "A new individual human being begins at fertilization, when the sperm and ovum meet to form a single cell." In other words, when a sperm and an ovum meet and fertilization a new human has begun formation. Since beginning of life, life has begun at conception, therefore fetuses have a right to live. Finally, fetuses feel execrating pain during the abortion procedure. According to Wisconsin Right to Live, "Surgeons entering the womb to perform corrective procedures on tiny unborn children have seen those babies flinch, jerk and recoil from sharp objects and incisions." Fetuses feel pain while surgeons perform the abortion. As stated by Robert J. White, M.D., PhD., professor of neurosurgery, Case Western University, "An unborn child at 20 weeks gestation ‘is fully capable of experiencing pain… Without question, [abortion] is a dreadfully painful experience for any infant subjected to such a surgical procedure" Any infant subjected to abortion will feel execrating pain. Fetuses are subjected to a procedure which brings them pain. On the other hand, Women who are denied abortions are more likely to become unemployed, to be on public welfare, to be below the poverty line, and to become victims of domestic violence. woman can put the baby up for adoption, since she can't support both of them. Even though woman can't get an abortion, they can still use adoption so they don't have trouble taking care of the baby and themselves. In conclusion, abortion should be illegal. Life begins with conception, so unborn babies are human beings with a right to life. Fetuses feel pain during the abortion procedure. Abortions cause psychological damage to fetuses and women. So with abortion illegal, less infant will be subjected to executing pain for the procedures.
Anderson brings up point after point to support his opinion on pro-choice abortion. Anderson writes about how the government should have no say in a woman’s decision to abort even if she is past the first trimester: “Pregnancy and motherhood affect every aspect of a woman’s life - public and private, emotional and physical - and Roe v. Wade confirmed that it was an invasion of privacy for the government to step in and make reproductive decisions on a woman’s behalf” (Anderson, 2015). Anderson explains how he believes a woman who decides to have an abortion does it because it will negatively affect their life in a way that will be changed forever. The article goes on to explain some reasons why women choose to have abortions. To back up his
Abortion is the ending of a pregnancy before birth; it causes the termination of the embryo or fetus inside the woman. There are two different types of abortion, a spontaneous abortion, which is also known as a miscarriage, and an induced abortion, where the embryo or fetus is purposely removed from the woman’s body. The topic of induced abortion has been widely debated for hundreds of years. The issue of abortion was argued way back in the time of the ancient Hebrews. In the United States, it became illegal around the mid 1800’s and not until the 1960’s was the argument for the right to abort brought back to the table.
Abortions, ever since they became an option for women to terminate an unwanted baby either for personal or health related reasons, were always a touchy subject for people because on one side you are ending a possible human 's life, but on the other it is the woman 's body and her choice with what she wants to do with it. However, many abortions are done usually at the start of pregnancy and what the abortionist terminates does not resemble that of a baby at all. Partial-Birth abortions are different in that they are done in the second trimester on a fetus that, if not terminated, could live when extracted from the mother. This type of abortion is one of the most gruesome procedures that doctors have to do and after the passing of the Partial-Birth
Abortion has been considered a controversy in the United States for many years. Abortion is the “expulsion of the fetus from the uterus.” (Robert H. Lauer) There are two different types of abortion, miscarriage and induced abortion. Women decided to have abortions for many different reasons and use it as a birth control plan. Many women decide that they can’t have the baby due to schooling, work, money and other responsibilities. Also, many women decide not to have the baby because they are single and don’t want to raise the child alone. (Robert H. Lauer) Although abortion has been legal in the United states recently, it was not legal in many states until 1973. (Thomson Reuters)
Abortion is a big part of the American government because being a citizen in a democracy leads one to believe that their opinion matters. Abortion is one of the most and has for the most part always been a controversial topic. In a democratic society, people are allowed to share their opinion and vote on what they want. As a citizen of America, we should also know the fact and history behind our views and opinion on topics such as abortion. Living in a democracy, everyone will have different opinions, but when an opinion has a law passed in favor of them, “folks wanna pop off” as Obama would say. In reality, not everyone will get their way in a democracy government. It is up to the courts to decide whether things are constitutional and create
Twenty-one percent of all U.S. pregnancies end in abortion (“Induced ABortion in the United States). Abortion is murdering defenseless babies who would‘ve otherwise had a happy life with a couple that is unable to have their own child. Is killing an innocent person ever moral?
Abortion has always been a hard decision for a women to have to make. Mainly because people have always viewed abortion as either morally wrong or not wrong at all. Everyone has different thoughts and concerns when it comes to abortion. There are a numerous amount of reasons why a women has to choose abortion, whether it be rape, the feeling of being unprepared, not ready age wise or their life is in danger, whatever the case may be it should be their choice.
Abortion has so many different view points on the topic, some positive some negative. Roe verse Wade played a huge part in the decision making process on abortion. Everyone has their own opinions about abortion but the opinion concerning when life begins had a significant effect on a person’s views concerning whether they are for or against abortion. The studies of long term effects from abortion on women are traumatic and devastating. They can include mental, physical, and emotional problems after an abortion.
“ Each year, nearly 1.2 million American women have an abortion to end a pregnancy.”(www.webmd.com) The personal and controversial topic that continue to be a debate in America. Abortion is one of the most controversial topics in today society. Many question should woman have the right to terminate her pregnancy, which is primarily known as abortion. Many argue that it is on humane to allow abortion, that abortion is almost like committing murder and not giving how the right to live. Many also argue that it is a woman 's right to choose whether or not she wants to have a child and no matter what it is her body and nobody else should be concerned with what she decides to do with her body. So now the question still remains should abortion be legal say I will be analyzing this topic in discussing my views on abortion, pro-life, and pro-choice. So what is abortion? Abortion according to Webster dictionary it is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy.
Abortion is a voluminous topic today all around the world. Differing viewpoints on abortion are recognized in politics, religion, and throughout the general population. There is a small amount of people who are nonchalant on the subject. Women have abortions for many different reasons and according to certain groups these reasons are either justified or not. Everyone tends to have their own articulated opinion, and many vocalize tenaciously what they believe. Pro-life individuals along with religion are sanguine that abortion is ethically and morally erroneous. Whereas those who are pro-choice say that abortion is inconsequential and the mother’s choice is more important than the fetus. Reasons to not get an abortion include risks involved in receiving an abortion. In some cases death can occur. However, there are other alternatives to abortion. For example, raising the child and adoption.
In addition, one analysis, in relation to abortion problems, states, “from 1988 to 1997 found the risk of death increased by 38% for each additional week of gestation, during the pregnancy.” (Jones). “Such studies rely on information from many countries and include legally mandated registers hospital administrative data,” so current research affirms that an induced abortion increase the risk of different physical consequences, such as breast cancer, placenta previa, and maternal suicide. (Bachiochi). Late term abortion not only affects the mother’s condition physically, but also psychologically. Although not all women respond in the same way, some of them develop diverse mental disorders leading to suicide after they received an abortion. Studies in Canadian newspapers show “a suicide rate of 34.9 per 1000” from women who experimented an abortion, in contrast to “a suicide rate of 5.9 per 1000” from women who gave birth to their babies. The same newspapers report “a rate of 5.2 per thousand hospitalizations for psychiatric
Today many people ask the question, does abortion have severe psychological effects? People that are pro-life claim that most women who abort their unborn child suffer from many negative effects, such as guilty feelings, anxiety, depression, loss, anger and even suicide. In one case a woman had an abortion assuming that it would take away all of the stress of being pregnant and thinking about the consequences of having a child. Afterwards she said, “I was unprepared for the maze of emotions that hit me after I had the procedure. Instead of feeling relieved, I was awash in anxiety and confusion” (Lawlor, 2002, par.3). The disorder of having negative effects after an abortion is called Post Abortion Syndrome or PAS. In order to tell if a woman has PAS she has to be completely honest with herself and admit the feelings that she has. The symptoms that most women have are strong feelings of guilt and confusion. Some cases are much more extreme, for example, there was a seventeen year old who developed lethargy, malaise, and vomiting. Doctors where unable to reach a conclusion about her condition until the anniversary of her abortion when she experienced overt psychosis. Mental examinations also revealed signs of hallucinations, as well as psychotic thought processes. Research has shown that in most cases women will go on and say they are fine about the whole thing, and many years later be ...
In my argumentative coursework I am arguing that abortion is wrong and not to be mistaken with 'Abortion should be made illegal.' I will explain later why I have made this statement. Abortion is the termination of an unborn child in its mother's womb for up to twenty four weeks of the pregnancy or in special circumstances e.g. Disability diagnosis a termination right up until the mother goes in to labour. I think the above definition is an easier and less harsh way of saying that abortion is the murdering of a human being. There are several reasons why abortion is legal and several reasons why it shouldn?t be.
Abortion is referred as the termination of a pregnancy or of a fetus that is incapable of survival (Dictionary.com). Abortion is morally wrong and illegal because the fetus is a person. It is the same thing as murder. The reasons people have abortions are they are not ready to handle the responsibility of another human being, the fetus may have a birth defect, mother’s heath is an issue, rape, or simply because they don’t want any more children (Abortioninfo). The majority of people that have abortions are teenagers. Abortion is flat out wrong and should be banned. Being that abortion is immoral no matter the circumstances, justifies the need for a law to make it illegal.
First, I feel that abortion should be illegal because it can result in medical complications and also psychological trauma. It can cause premature birth and could also cause a baby to be handicapped in future pregnancies. A woman who has had an abortion is 2.3 times more likely to get cervical, ovarian, and or liver cancer. Abortion is the cause of 47,000 woman’s death yearly. It can cause depression for at
