The Outsiders is a book about Greasers And Socs. The Greasers are the poor east side kids they would wear their hair long and greasy and they will dress in blue jeans, T-shirts, or wear they shirttails out and wear a leather jacket and tennis shoes or boots. The Socs are the rich west side kids that worn nice clothes, drove nice cars, and had all the pretty lady’s. They both was gangs in Oklahoma. The Socs they would jump Greasers, wreck houses, and throw beer blasts for kicks. The main character of this book is Ponyboy. Ponyboy was a Greaser he was different from all the others he liked books and movies. Nobody in the Greasers digged books and movies the way Ponyboy did. Ponyboy was fourteen years old and he had two brothers that he lived with his older brother Darrel who they call Darry and his second older brother Sodapop who was sixteen going on seventeen. Ponyboy only live with his brothers because they mother and father was killed in a car accident. Ponyboy wanted to be like a movie star Paul Newman he wished he looked like him. Ponyboy always thought his brother Darry never cared about him or anything else. Ponyboy had a friend Jonny. Johnny was a Greaser too but he was the softest one but after he got jumped that changed he always carried a switchblade on him. One night Ponyboy,Johnny, and Dallas want out to the movies. Dallas was drunk and he was messing with the two ladies in front of them Cherry and Marcia. Dallas left to go get some drinks for the ladies came back and gave it to them but Cherry threw it in his face Marcia kept hers. Dallas then left after Johnny cursed him out and Ponyboy and Johnny then moved down to sit with the ladies to protect them from Dallas then Two-Bit came. Ponyboy was surprised bec... ... middle of paper ... ...t like the rest of the Greasers he wouldn’t kill or nothing no matter what. They could of said Johnny not no killer but don’t push him because he will go off but instead they made it seem like he was a kid that lived in a household that didn’t care about him and that he was a punk and never stood up for himself. I learned a lot from this book I learned not to get in gangs and stay true to your family. I liked a quote in this story it said “things are rough all over” to me that meant no matter where you are where you go things are going to be rough so just stop running away from problems because it’s just going to create more. Dally and Sodapop both kind of remind me of myself because I don’t care about nothing but I can understand people and the different things they like and nothing don’t scare me. I think the theme of this story is to be your brothers keeper.
Stereotyping is a constant theme throughout The Outsiders. It may seem as if the Greasers are the ones that really have to deal with presumptions, but the Socs also have quite a bit of stereotyping to deal with. While the outside world tries to force these stereotypes onto the gangs, they also tend to assume things about each other. This leads to divisions between them that most likely would not exist if stereotyping was not so abundant. The Greasers are pegged as nasty hoodlum troublemakers that are dropouts and criminals. On the other hand, the Socs are made out to be the opposite- crisp, intelligent young adults that have no real problems. Many cases of stereotyping between the two groups leads to violence between them.
The Outsiders, an enthralling novel by S.E Hinton, is an excellent story about the hardships and triumphs experienced by the Greasers and the Socs two rival gangs. S.E Hinton tells a thrilling tale about the Socs and the Greasers that are two gangs and she characterize how they live. Ponyboy, his brother and his friends have to deal with the challenges relating to their environment. The three most important topics of The Outsiders are survival, social class and family support.
‘The Outsiders’ is written by S.E. Hinton. It is set in the 1960s in a
S.E. Hinton’s novel, The Outsiders, is at first a narrative of Ponyboy, a young outcast boy who later becomes a young man filled with identity. At the end of the novel, it is revealed that the narrative is actually Ponyboy’s autobiographical account of his quest for a place in society. The symbols and motifs of The Outsiders contribute immensely to the novel’s most prominent theme: Commonality between the rich and the poor is camouflaged by economics and socialism.
“The Outsiders” is about two groups the Socs(richer ones) and the Greasers(hoods) a few greasers get into some trouble with some Socs when Johnny accidentally kills somebody they get into some trouble. When they flee town to the mountains they change how they look so they don't fit the descriptions in the paper they eat baloney sandwiches and smoke, while playing cards. When Johnny ends up in the hospital the gang gets angry at the Socs.
One night when Ponyboy and Johnny were out at the vacant lot (the gangs so called territory). When a blue mustang pulled up ( this ment the Socs have arrived), one of the Soc’s name was Bob, he was Cherry’s boyfriend. Early that
One of the themes in The Outsiders can be found while reading about Ponyboy’s connection with his brother Darry. Darry is Pony’s guardian; he is particularly protective and disciplining to him. Ponyboy, like many teenagers, does not understand the importance of Darry’s authority in his life. Surely, without Darry, Pony would be extremely out of control and reckless. This theme was perfectly displayed by the author.
All the outsiders or greasers are all friendly to each other. Groups are formed and in some cases they become family. Like the gang that Hinton created. They became family and help each other in time of need. When their parents either didn’t care or sadly died. Without that they could be living on the streets, be in a boys home, or still live with their horrible parents.
The Outsiders is a novel by S.E Hinton, that follows a young boy named Ponyboy who grows up in a gang. Johnny, Sodapop and Darry help him find how he fits into the world and without them he would have a hard time finding his own identity. Without having a close group of friends he would have a tough way of life, especially with the Socs. Being in a group that you associate with, that have different values to yourself can lead you to disregard your own ethics and do things you wouldn’t normally do, but at the same time this can assist and reinforce your own values…
Even though the main groups are the greasers and soc the soc are considered higher. They are the higher class the people with the most power. The Greasers are the complete opposite. They are the lower class of the two almost to the point of being homeless. They do have each other but to the world, they are the Outsiders. Someone to cast as a outsider, to look down upon, to not trust. The police would blame Greasers because they thought of them as criminals, just because he was a Greaser. The Greasers are cast out and left to feel the harsh elements of life, while in any other situation they would've been given a helping hand. Therefore the greasers are known as outsiders and are not noticed highly and very untrustful.
What is the big idea in any book. What's the theme of the Outsiders. The Outsiders novel is written by S.E Hinton. Hinton wrote this novel is based somewhat on her experiences in high school. In the book The Outsiders, There is an obvious split of two groups in this town. They are the Socs and Greasers. They have differences and similarities like, how they view themselves, how they handle conflict, and what they have. This helps to learn about their lifestyle.
Hinton, is that no one is the same. I think the theme is important because if everyone was the same the world would be boring, but since no one is the same it makes everyone different in their own way or unique. The theme was prevalent throughout the book because everyone in the book showed that they were different on almost every page, if not it was every page. The book affected me in a good way because it made me realize that everyone is different and not just certain people. How do you think this will affect the way you think about others being dissimilar. You can gain a lot from reading this novel, one thing is that everyone is unique in their own way, also that it's not what people call you, think, and or say about you that make you do the things you do, it's the way you act and the way you choose to do
The story opens with Ponyboy walking home alone from a movie; he is stopped by a gang of Socs who proceed to stop there car and beat him up. The Socs badly injure and threaten to kill Ponyboy; however, some of ponyboy’s gang happen upon the scene and scare off the Socs.
