Before the Industrial Revolution, science was booming as new discoveries and logic was used to advance the field of science. This time period also resulted in many revolutions and debates within several countries. New technology was starting, trying to be quicker and more efficient, leading into the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution consisted of industries using new technology and techniques, which led to conflicts yet a better economic standpoint for many. The Industrial Revolution had been both beneficial and harmful in England for many reasons. The new machines caused many farmers to move away from there farms and into towns near the new machinery. This caused a growth in the cities and started expanding them, yet this lead to a negative effect of more people being exposed to the harsh chemicals and fuel let out by the machines. (1) And from new expansions along with more people getting exposed to all the dangers, these new industrial technologies were pumping toxins out into the air, causing more people to die at a younger age than before. The average death had decreased, prompted by this unclean and unsanitary lifestyle. The authors POV is a woman named Frances Trolle, a female who was a large feminist, as woman didn’t have rights and were always seen in the shadow of men. She advocated to stop these horrors and she tried to reform Manchester. (8) As the once beautiful Manchester was damaged by the poisons surrounding it and hurting everyone in its path. Air quality had decreased and hurt many animals, which was a leading economic trade item for this country. The farmers moved away from there farmlands to the city for better job opportunities, the gamble for money decreased due to the newly acquired jobs many men had received, where they knew at least they would receive some money. Though this wasn’t the case for everyone in England, the benefitted ones had the upper hand as travel was cheaper and became a luxury. (2) The rich, striking people became civilized people and joined as a community, do to the boom of money and working jobs. Of course there are still many farmers who didn’t move and are not making as much money, but for the other people the money is rolling in and they can afford things like houses and food for all three meals. Male and females are both receiving money, a house, food, and other luxurious items as the manufacturing districts continue to grow and become more stable financially.
