Today, we are facing a healthcare communication crisis. The relationship between doctor and patient relationship is falling apart. For patient who are not able to make decision for themselves, so they rely on their family members. This puts more stress on doctors, such that patient out number doctors and it prevents them from using their full capacity. Ways to help this cause will be by redefining healthcare to society. To redefine healthcare communication one needs to understand the doctor’s role.

How can we solve this problem? Gail Reed suggest there should be a Medical school open to the world. In Cuba, they tend to give a full ride scholarship for people who are capable of becoming doctors. In the medical school of Havana, 20,000 of doctors graduate annually (Reed). This school teaches to about 86 countries around the world. They come to Cuba to become future physicians for their community. They are from lower income countries who are funded by organization to help their community. As a result, majority of these doctors come from multiple languages, but in return they all get to understand Spanish. Learning Spanish is critical because it’s a language known worldwide. Plus, students around the world come to Milan, Havana with their native country and their native language. People communicate together and learn how to communicate with one language. we need to redefine how society see health care. When people go to a medical center, people try to find the person available for someone health. Of course one will want a doctor to check them out, but majority of the times, people have simple symptoms a nurse can consult. Today society should lesson the stress of work form doctors. One is by notifying people there are others profession who can consult them about their health other than doctors. For example nurses, they are the marine of medicine because they are in the front line of diagnosing patients. Plus nurses are divided into three, Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Vocational Nurses (Lvn), register nurse assistant (RNA) and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Luckily, someone does not need to go four years a medical school to become a RNA or a CNA. After, they become an RNA, it takes a couple of semester to become an LVN. Same goes to RN people behind the navy seal. The navy seal are the doctors who conduct the special missions. Other medical specialist can help reduce the work, like pharmacist. Medical stores like CVS, have consultation where someone can ask the pharmacist which medicine they should take if they are feeling such and such. Majority of times, these consultation are simple and they would inform them that the medicine is available to the public. When we see patients, we must remember that we are not simply treating a disease. We are caring for people with lives, hobbies, jobs, families, and friends, who are likely in a very vulnerable position. We must ensure that we use the status of physicians to benefit patients first and foremost, and do what we promised to when we entered the profession: provide care and improve quality of life, and hopefully leave the world a little better than it was

There is a direct correlation with communication, improving a patient's well being, and quality of care. Adequate communication among physicians and their patients is an actively growing research topic. Results supplied by such studies have provided effective recommendations for oncologists and their team. These recommendations include the patient-physician relationship, how physicians utilize medical information, how physicians deal with patient emotions, physician self-management, and educational conferences designed to sharpen communication. Communication is important during each phase of cancer care. Patients are concerned with a wide range of issues including pain, death, and disability. There are distinct categories that affect the way a physician communicates with a patient including physician training, communication barriers, the patients role, communication with families, communication styles, alternative treatments, communication research, as well as public awareness. Throughout the last two quarters of Health: A Biopsychosocial Inquiry we have been discussing a lot about the doctor/ patient relationship. What does it look like? How should a doctor treat his or her patient and the patient’s responsibility to their own health care? We have read about parents and what they should or shouldn’t’ do where their child is concerned. We have tackled the issue of the quality of care you receive depending on how much money you have. We have learned about diseases or health care issues and how to take care of the body better, to avoid certain diseases.
