Human Resource management plays a major role in all organizations. Human Resources Management departments are in position to protect the organization and the employee from the various laws. The importance of human resources management in health care is a very dynamic in that the human resource management department has deals with rules regulations pertaining to non – clinical and clinical personnel. Over the past 80 years the legal aspects of human resources has transformed. Establishing the right kind or employee to form unions and define certain parameters as the time frame of the work day and employee’s right’s (Fallon and McConnell, 2014). Not having a human resource management in place can be costly to the organizations I f not in compliance with the legislations laws. In this paper I will discuss five major laws that passed legislation and the impact they have had on human resource management in healthcare.
Healthcare administration is a field that is often overlooked, but is essentially the beating heart of any healthcare organization. With more and more hospital, and clinics, and other healthcare organizations popping up everywhere there is a need for people like me to manage the day-to-day operations. I am choosing to apply to this program because I want to study how the U.S. healthcare system operates. I want to learn the essential skills of operating a healthcare facility such as managing a budget, reducing healthcare costs, analyzing the efficiency of an organization and proposing ways to improve it. This program is going to give me the necessary education and skills so I can carry out my goal of being a healthcare administrator.
There are many common themes between American College of Healthcare Executives, Medical Group Management Association, and the Association of University Programs for Health Administration. The main similarity is that these management associations’ mission is to enhance the profession and to promote excellence. They all ultimately lead and manage other health care organizations, along with the health care service providers. These associations all value integrity, continuing education, and leadership in professional development. There are a few differences between these associations. (Goode, 2001) The accreditation proves that healthcare facility underwent the accreditation process and met all of the necessary requirements to become qualified. Accreditation has been generally viewed as a desirable process to establish standards and work toward achieving higher quality care.
Healthcare Administration is an occupation where one would plan, direct, or coordinate medical and health services. These tasks take place in hospitals, clinics, managed care organizations, public health agencies, or similar organizations. This occupation works more with documents, with little patient interaction. You do not commonly become certified to draw blood, and one does not require an internship for this career. This occupation does require a background check. Many careers require specific types of certification. Healthcare Administration requires an LNHA (Licensed Nursing Home Administrator). Challenges for this field depend upon the workplace in which one is working.
