"The Great Gatsby." This title provoked me curiosity through the reason why Gatsby is so great. The author of the book, F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896~1940), made me keep reading this book with his dexterous writing skills. This book is set up by the story of Mello and Romance.
This book has a first person narrator, Nick Carraway. He is a sincere and faithful man who lives next to the big fancy house of Gatsby that offers luxury party everyday night. He criticizes Gatsby's life of lie and his delusion, but gives high praises of his honest and serious love toward Daisy. At the result of Gatsby's death, he returns to his hometown after become disillusionment of the eastern life that has the only splendid appearance but a lack of the honesty.

As a young man, Jay Gatsby was poor with nothing but his love for Daisy. He had attempted to woe her, but a stronger attraction to money led her to marry another man. This did not stop Gatsby’s goal of winning this woman for himself though, and he decided to improve his life anyway he could until he could measure up to Daisy’s standards. He eventually gained connections in what would seem to be the wrong places, but these gave him the opportunity he needed to "get rich quick." Gatsby’s enormous desire for Daisy controlled his life to the point that he did not even question the immorality of the dealings that he involved himself in to acquire wealth. Eventually though, he was able to afford a "castle" in a location where he could pursue Daisy effectively. His life ambition had successfully moved him to the top of the "new money" class of society, but he lacked the education of how to promote his wealth properly. Despite the way that Gatsby flaunted his money, he did catch Daisy’s attention. A chaotic affair followed for a while until Daisy was overcome by pressures from Gatsby to leave her husband and by the realization that she belonged to "old money" and a more proper society.

Gatsby is an enigma and a subject of great curiosity, furthermore, he is content with a lot in life until he strives too hard. Jay Gatsby is an enormously rich man, and in the flashy years of the jazz age, wealth defined importance. Gatsby has endless wealth, power and influence but never uses material objects selfishly. Nick Carraway is the narrator of this story. He can keep secrets and is known to be trust worthy which gives the reader a better view of the story. They can see everything that is happening because the characters in this book trust him with secrets. He does not really go into the action much. He is more of an observer. This does not mean that he does not do much in the story though. He explains where he lives, the areas at where the events take place and introduces other characters. Another side of the novel is about the narrator Nick Carraway. Nick is first cousins to Daisy and they grew up together. Nick knows Tom from Yale they both graduated the same year. Nick moved from the west to West Egg to start over and he shortly discovers that he is neighbors to The Great Gatsby himself. Deeper into the novel Nick and Gatsby become acquainted and become very good friends. Gatsby lets Nick know that him and his cousin Daisy have a past and he would like to schedule to see her but he doesn’t want Daisy knowing that she is going to see him.
