 Characterization: are the methods by which a writer creates people in a story so that they seem to actually exist. Some of the details that characterize Yunior from “How to Date a Browngirl, Blackgirl, Whitegirl, or Halfie” is that he had a different kind of stereotype for different kinds of women, that he tried to hide his true self to date different kinds of girls, he lied to get what he wanted, he never respected girls in front of his friends so that he wouldn’t be in trouble, and he looked at girls in a very sexual aspect.

Vicki on “My Kid’s Dog” is a flat character because they never mentioned any of his personality traits or qualities, all we know it’s that she was the wife’s friend and that she was worried about the dog having rabies.
 Stock Character: is a stereotypical character distinguished by their flatness that are particularly popular in formula fiction, television programs, and action movies. Stock character are quickly recognized and accepted by the reader or viewer and doesn’t require a full development by the writer. Dr. Sean form “Good Will Hunting” is a stock character we don’t know that much about his personal traits, only that he suffered from the death of his wife. We quickly realize from the way that he looked that he was a nice person, who was willing to help Will make a change his life.

It is an intentional product of the speaker and is contradictory to his/her emotions and actions. Verbal irony is often stated in the form of a metaphor or simile. One example of verbal irony is when in” Hey Howya Doin”, the tall husky guy asked the other joggers Hey Howya Doing, you would assume that he was saying it in a nice way because he truly care about their lives, but in reality he said it to make them confused and distracted from what they were thinking.
 Situational Irony: an outcome that turns out to be very different from what was expected, the difference between what is expected to happen and what actually does. One example of a situational irony is when on “GWH” Will, the janitor of the school is the one who solves the difficult math problem; everyone was expecting that one of Prof. Lambeau students solve the math problems, not the guy with no college education.
 Symbolism: is an object representing another to give it an entirely different meaning that is much deeper and more significant.
