Revolutions are usually described as “radical” events. A “radical” event is defined as one that greatly changes the political, cultural, social, and/or economic nature of a society. I believe that the American Revolution was a radical event that dramatically changed our society. There were many impacts to the changes such as slavery, primogeniture, the Articles of Confederation, republican motherhood, and government. This was the time in life, that we as America gained our independence from Britain. The American Revolution is what shaped our world to become what it is today. A great big societal impact of the Revolution was slavery. The Revolution opened up the idea of equality in America. Slavery started to die down after the Revolution, and whites were beginning to accept the fact of equality within the country. The North was very big on anti-slavery, and the South was beginning to free some of their slaves. The free black population grew rapidly within the United States. African Americans established many institutions in resemblance of their pride they had for their freedom. Although the Revolution abled slaves to get freed from their masters, there were also some negative consequences of slaves gaining freedom that affected the country. Some people had their doubts about slavery, especially farmers in the south. They did not want to be left without workers to work in their fields, and they did not want their crops to die out. Slavery was the number one changes made by the Revolution that opened up the eyes of many people. Changes for land holding came about after the Revolution and made a big impact within families. George Washington was the leader of the government after the Revolution. This system limited the federal government’s power. Many Americans were afraid to escape England’s rule over them. There was no central government so the states could not be controlled or united together. The American Revolution shaped all of these issues throughout the time period. It shows how radical our government turned out to be. These impacts came to show America that we can be independent and control our own nation. I think that the American Revolution helped turned our country around for the good. It helped America gain the responsibility it needed in order to become an independent nation. Without the independence they gained during this time, we would not stand where we are today. It shaped our country in many ways that became helpful to us later down the road.

The revolution brought major changes in the system but if seeing from a larger view everything remained the same. The questions that the American Revolution went deeply through were the slavery question, the women emancipation and the system of politics. But at the end radical changes were very little and the lives lost were not worth the advantages for the country. The first issue the revolutionary war had to face was slavery. Social changes never touched the lives of white men since they already had rights and benefits but instead they touched slaves and women even though the scene remained unchanged after the end of the war.
The American Revolution, also known as the War for Independence began from 1785-1783. The primary cause for the war was because of a conflict between the 13 British colonies and England. The American Revolution resulted in a victory for the 13 British colonies who would declare themselves as the United States of America. The colonists’ heritage was largely British, as was their outlook on a great array of subjects; however, the position and prejudices they held concerning their independence were comprised entirely from American ingenuity. This identity crisis of these “British Americans” played an enormous role in the colonists’ battle for independence, and paved the road to revolution.
According to Carl N. Degler, the entire Revolution should be viewed as a conservative change. In “A New Kind of Revolution,” Degler talked about how the new actions taken place by the English had help structure and shape the colonial government. Not only did the colonies lack the affection of their motherland, Britain, they were also taxed unfairly. On the other hand, “The Radicalism of the American Revolution,” by Gordon S. Wood talks about how the American Revolution was a radical movement. His thesis covered how the country was transitioning from monarchy to republic, and now, democracy. The framers wanted to create a free nation where no single person rule. As well as, the people of the nation having the ultimate say so.
The American Revolution was so much more than just a war, or a time in history. It was a time where America grew, and as the name suggests, revolutionized their way of thinking and governing. It was a time for some great thinkers to get their ideas out there, and these ideas helped shape America into what it is today. These revolutionary thinkers shared their ideas publicly, and that gave the people ways to revolutionize their thoughts as well. They flipped what they knew about government upside down.
In history, the American Revolution is a big event as it marked the beginning of the strongest country in the world in modern times. The war occurred between the British and the colonists of Britain. Many of the things the British did to their American colonists were unjust despite the fact that they had just come out of the French and Indian War. The British taxation of the American colonists was very unjust and the colonists’ actions against the British could be justified as they were upset by the unjust tyranny of King George III.
The American Revolution was based on replacing the English Monarch structure with republicanism and democracy. The social and political change, lead to the removal of britsh ideology in the new world. “The destruction of a british monument which is presumingly the King is destroyed by colonists after the war to celebrate their independence and start as their own country, The United States of America.” (Document A) This was a change to the architecture and art surrounding cities that used to be british colonies. Another change that was made is that in 1790 the metric system was rejected primarily because Americans did not want anything to do with their British ancestors. “The American government took possessions such as land from loyalist that supported Great Britain during the revolution. This was considered a redistribution of their wealth as it was given to the non wealthy farmers, trades people, local gentry and the church before given to the upper class.” (Document E) The American people did not want anything to do with Great Britain after the Revolution. They wanted to prove themselves as a nation. The nation went from a place ruled by tyranny to a republic where people had a voice and no one person shall have too much power. We distanced ourselves further and further from the way of the British and created America, a place filled with freedoms and change. Before the Revolution many white men could not vote, slavery in the north was abolished after the revolution and women got an education. The revolution was revolutionary it changed the status quo, it opened up doors for change that may have never been opened if we had stayed with the British. It paved the way for slavery to be abolished in all of the U.S., for all persons to be able to vote, and for democracy to be instilled not only in the U.S. but in other countries all around
The American Revolution took place between 1765 and 1783, during this period rebel colonists in the Thirteen American Colonies rejected the British monarchy and aristocracy, overthrew the authority of Great Britain, and founded the United States of America. The revolution eventually led to a civil war that became known as the American Revolutionary War. Some historians have argued that the American revolution was different to others due to the lack of terror etc, ‘does not seem to have the same kind of causes- social wronging’s, the class conflict, the impoverishment, the grossly inequitable distributions of wealth- that presumably lie behind other revolutions.’ It was also stated by then future 2nd president John Adams in 1818 that, ‘a radical change in the principles, opinions, sentiments and affections of the people was the real American revolution,’ These two opposing views present the argument as to Some say that the revolution wasn’t a social revolution because a lot of the results were political in nature and had more to do with the government than the people.
The United States’ rebellion against Great Britain was the first step towards a future self-governing nation. The American Revolution was caused by parliaments unfair actions to the colonies and these actions gave American’s lasting values such as freedom and equality and changed the political system by giving white men the right to vote and hold office.
Conventionally when one thinks of revolutionary events in history the American Revolution usually isn’t the first to come to mind. Though indeed the American Revolution radicalized colonial America and created a forward moving republic. In Gordon S. The political change of government and economic expansion, the cultural switch on creative aspects and slavery, as well as the social opportunities that the new republic offered to freemen and the downfall of the all-important family-name. The American Revolution was all about change in the society of America. During the revolution the colonists had to stick together to fight for their independence from Great Britain. The formation of the Republican Party separated the country. On the other hand, the divisions in society allowed for Americans to find themselves, and the revolution allowed many colonists to find their true beliefs. Therefore, the American Revolution was continued by the Republican Party formation in the 1790s.
The American Revolution is pivotal moment for America not only for freedom, but for the morals it had installed not only throughout America but throughout the world. The American Revolution started in 1776 to 1783. Now the exact definition of revolution is a forcible overthrow of a government or social order in favor of a new system, but it means much more than this. When asked the question, was the Revolutionary War really revolutionary, you have to understand what happened before and after the war not during it. Although the American Revolution did not change the rights of minorities very much at all, but the changes in Social Ideals/American morals, and the opportunities for freedom it had created were truly revolutionary.

Revolution is an event that changes the life and politics of a certain people. Revolution can be both insignificant and radical. American revolutionary war was one of the best example of radical revolution. It affected to American society in terms of politically, economically, and socially. The war was motivated by high taxation, such as Stamps Act, that British offered to Colonial people and unequal treatment that Colonial people went through. The first time, most of them did not care about high taxation because they would not have any way to get away with it. However, after the Stamps Act, people started to be frustrated with desire to have equal rights. Then they held 1st continental congress, which was the confederation to discuss and find to solution to it. However, they did not want independence, all they wanted to do was to go back to Salutary Neglect. Also, it was the reactant of Intolerable Act.
