The movie Seabiscuit is based on the true story of Red Pollard and his achievement of self-fulfillment through his success as a jockey. At the start of the movie, Red is an unimportant, self-doubting boxer and jockey who has never experienced success in his life. As the movie continues, Red meets two other men, Charles Howard and Jim Smith, who feel as though they have no purpose in life. Throughout the course of the movie, these three men are able to use their passions and motivation to become a successful horse racing team. By the conclusion of Seabiscuit, Red, Charles, and Jim have changed from depressed, unhappy men to an inspiration for all of America. Seabiscuit is a uniquely American film because it tells of the fulfillment of the American dream through Red Pollard and his coworkers, who rise from a life of depression and failure to an inspiring life of success.
Many of his vivid descriptions of how the slaves were treated and talked are clearly aimed to hit a soft spot. Mr. Alud called Douglass awful names and spoke of him like he was property. “Now,” said he, “if you teach that nigger (speaking of myself) how to read, there would be no keeping him” (Douglass page 30). Chris Tucker (Charley Sheen) was the focus for change in the movie. He was surrounded by stock characters from whom he could take or leave whatever they had to offer. He was the one to watch, the moral center of the film whose experience would explain it all for us.
One of the first encounters we have with Pap is when the new judge takes him in and does his best to change the way he acts. During the scene he is taken up to the spare room and left for the night but Pap’s true feelings retune that night.
Film Analysis - The Notebook Introduction The film is portrayed in the past and present scenario setting. It is based on a young couple’s love and passion for one another, but are unexpectedly separated due to the disapproval of the teen girl parents and the social differences in their life. At the start of the movie, it displays a nursing home style setting with an elderly man named Duke (James Garner), reading to an elderly woman named Mrs. Hamilton (Gena Rowlands), whose memory is inevitably deteriorating. The story he reads to her is a love story about two teenagers named Allie (Rachel McAdams) and Noah (Ryan Gosling), that met in the 1940’s at a carnival in Seabrook Island, South Carolina.
I think the character who was the most victimized out of this unit would have to be Frederick Douglass. Frederick was a slave who was sent to a slave breaker, Mr. Covey. “Mr. Covey succeeded in breaking me. I was broken in body, soul, and spirit.” Frederick was beat very often usually for a weak reasoning, “My awkwardness was almost always his excuse for whipping me.”
Trip or the actual actor of Denzel Washington. A few lines and scenes in this movie made Denzel very famous and will be remember for a long time. Denzel’s acting was absolutely phenomenal in scenes like when he goes against Col. Gould and at first they dont get along very well because of the different mind set between Denzel and Col. Gould Shaw based off of how they grew up.Denzel turned into his character and played his character role throughout the entire movie without being himself and ruining the character. The battle of Fort Wagner did not focus on Denzel as much as the times when they were in the camps and denzel was sticking up for all the blacks seeing that they had a similar childhoods and they know what they are capable of and how much fighting in this army means to them. When all the black me get their tickets and are about to go exchange them Denzel starts yelling “ tear it up, tear it up,” because he is trying to protest the lower pay that the black men are getting. He quickly get everyone on board and they all rip it up along with Col. Gould Shaw who also gets in on it as the captain of this squadron. This shows what an influential and powerful character he is playing that really leads this group of guys, hypes them up and gives them a fighting spirit. I think he was a good actor that never broke character, was dedicated and mentally engulfed in the film and loved his role in the movie based of off all the examples I

The movie begins with in Los Angeles diner were a waitress named slim works with her best friend Ginny (Kazan, 2002). While working her shift slim has a customer that starts harassing her over the name she has, but the companion of the annoying customer defends slim, which in turn starts a romance, later to become a marriage between the two (Kazan, 2002). The couple is later blessed with a daughter they name Gracie, and at the beginning the marriage seems to be a fairy tale out of a story book (Kazan, 2002). Alex DeLarge and his “droogs” (gang) live in a derange society of “ultra-violence” and rape. Alex and his gang cause havoc around the town that leads to the “droogs” turning on Alex during a mischievous act on an innocent women and Alex getting arrested. While in prison he is chosen for “treatment” that is suppose to purify Alex and turn him into the “perfect citizen”. We’ve gone over many sociological concepts in class, but the three that I believe apply the most to this film are socialization, deviance, and resocialization.
Charlie and the Chocolate factory is a remake of the children’s classic Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, although the acting, setting, and story may seem silly at times, the movie actually have a logical message hidden beneath it all. The emotional connection, credibility, logic, purpose, and setting of the movie are extremely valid, and when you get past the childish cover up, it is really a serious movie.
