Statement Of Purpose For Computer Engineering

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Recent trends in technology have facilitated the increasing harmony of humans and computers in every sphere of life. This, in turn, has given rise to an exciting and challenging field for computer scientists like myself, with an interest in human computer interaction. The desire to forge ahead in this field by doing cutting--edge research has motivated me to pursue graduate studies.

In the twelve years of my schooling, I have always been ranked among the top brass in my class. I have always been attracted towards subjects that draw upon one’s analytical abilities. My early fascination for electronics (since high school), combined with a strong liking for analytical subjects inspired me to choose Electrical and Electronics Engineering as my branch during undergraduate studies.

My undergraduate education at I.F.E.T College of Engineering affiliated to Madras University, has given me a comprehensive exposure to the areas of Computers, Electrical and Electronics and a strong conceptual understanding of the same. In these four years of study, I have strived to maintain an approach of expending independent effort in all my endeavors. Learning by myself and sharing my knowledge with others has been most worthwhile, when comprehending a concept.

I was awestruck by the potential of Intel 8086 microprocessor, more so by the manner in which its faster and more powerful cousins revolutionized the working of computers in a decade. This interest determined me to focus on microprocessors during my Final Year project. I believe the program offered will help me acquire the versatility needed to reach my full potential as an engineer. Stevens Institute of Technology is where I envision this dream coming true.
