1. Human purpose: I believe that from a general sense, all people need and crave social interaction and emotional fulfillment. From the beginning of childhood, human beings thrive off personal contact with others. They learn through these interactions, which begin to help shape who they are and who they want to become. Every human being has a different purpose in his or her own life. Some may seek professional success or social status. They may have the desire to attain a position leadership that perhaps seeks to help others. No matter what the case, most people do have one thing in common: the basic desire to be accepted and love. 2. The purpose of society and its institutions: Society and its institutions are the basis of development within organized groups of people. They provide rules and regulations that help guide and encourage this development. They provide many resources and connecting relationships among other organized groups. Society in general can set standards for behavior among people within that society. 3. The purposes of social work: Social work is a profession, which works to empower individuals through a variety of different tactics. They facilitate empowerment in their clients by working with them one on one or in small groups. Advocating for social justice is an ongoing job in social work. Social work is not about fixing people. It is about empowering people to recognize the strengths that they themselves possess. B. Regarding Human Nature and Behavior in Social Contexts 1. Human Nature: Human nature is characteristics that generally apply to all people. It is our natural habits such as being impatient, wanting to be accepted, and so on. We should first believe in our hearts that we are making a difference because if we don’t, there will always be something that will disappoint us enough to make us feel like we aren’t doing enough. We should give credit when credit is due and acknowledge when progress is made while maintaining a positive and proactive attitude to situations.
