When humans compare and contrast learning theories such as your behaviors, cognitive, sociocultural, and humanistic perspectives it plays a big role in our lives. The social learning and cognitive behavioral has a significant impact on our lives because both deals with development aspects of life. The behavior theory deals with occurrences responses of a different environment. This program was thirteen months long and rewarding. While, on this journey it was challenging, it made me be disciplined throughout the entire program. Nonetheless, my girlfriend was the motivation that kept me on this journey, because now the program was creditable, and the degree was for real and if she could do it, I felt that I could accomplish it as well. So, I finished the Criminal Justice Program with an emphasis’s in legal studies. My grades were also wonderful, I earned eight A’s, and three B’s. This was a great accomplishment and I would say my girlfriend was the biggest motivation, because she achieved her Master’s, and I wanted to do the same and I did. Cognitive learning believes in the internal process; this information is integrated into ones intellectual structure. When I finished my Master at GCU I encouraged my children to get their college degrees. I was the first out of 13 children to graduate college and I was the first in my family to receive my Master’s. In May of 2016 my son will be the first male in my whole family to have a college degree and my daughter will be the first of all her female cousins to have a college degree. I am proud of the steps I took that lead my family and I am on a successful path. I was motivated because I did not give up ,I wanted too, because at times it seemed so impossible ,but God told me that I can do it and I knew I had it in me. I felt anxiety, denial, intellectualization and regression; all are a type of humanistic approaches that deals with human feeling and reactions. Behaviorism, or learning theory is one of three “grand theories” of human development. The focus of behaviorism is observable behavior, with no reference to mental processes. As a learning theory behaviorism, assumes that learning occurs via interactions with the environment, through the process of conditioning.
Social cognitive theory of learning is a theoretical perspective that focuses on learning by observing others and eventually assuming control over one’s own behavior (Ormrod, 2011, p.323). Social cognitive theory is a perspective that helps us understand about learning by observing other people doing the same thing. This theory is a blend of behaviorism and cognitive psychology (Ormrod, 2011). Behaviorism theory relates to learning as a stimulus- response relationship and suggests that learning involves a behavior change whereas according to social cognitive theory learning is an internal process that may or may not lead to a behavior change. For example one might attempt to ride a bicycle as soon as they learn to ride the bicycle but learning how to put air in the bike may not be needed until the bicycle need air.
I was raised in an encouraging household where both of my parents greatly valued education. Although they were high school graduates, neither could afford to attend college; a combination of family and financial woes ultimately halted their path. As a result, my parents frequently reminded me that getting a good education meant better opportunities for my future. To my parents, that seemed to be the overarching goal: a better life for me than the one they had. My parents wanted me to excel and supported me financially and emotionally of which the former was something their parents were not able to provide. Their desire to facilitate a change in my destiny is one of many essential events that contributed to my world view.
Other issues under the cognitive theory are social and learning theories that are founded on the assumptions that humans make decisions based on logical evaluation of ideas. One of the strengths of the theory is in its recognition of humans as logical beings. It rejects behaviorism because the theory does not recognize the importance of logics in human reasoning.
There is this saying, “Everything happens for a reason” and I believe certain things do. I believe that everything I have gone through my life has been preparing me for the beginning of a great career. This world can be a scary place, but there is also beauty in this world with lots of opportunities, and people who want to help make a difference. I want to be one of those people who inspire others to do better, to guide them and to teach them to not give up. If it was not for my counselors and mentors I would not be where I am at today. I was able to accomplish one of my goals of being the first in my family to graduate with my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from CSULA. I want to further my education to better myself, and help others along the way.

There are many ways to examine human behaviors, and these perspectives can help to explain these behaviors, and come up with possible solutions.
Akers and Sellers (2013) has stated that social learning theory is an expanded theory of differential association processes and improves it with differential reinforcement and other principles of the behavior theory. They added classical conditioning (the sharpening of involuntary reflex behavior); discriminative stimuli (internal stimuli that lead to signals for behavior); schedules of reinforcement (rewards and punishment ratio following behavioral feedback); and other theories of behavior (Akers & Sellers, 2013).
Successful teachers develop the whole child by making integrated efforts to promote their student’s academic, social and emotional learning. Children need to be aware of themselves and others; make responsible decisions, and be ethical and respectful of the people around them.
Behaviorism known as learning theory states that the reason why people think, act, and feel the way they do is because they learned it. John Watson in 1913 started this movement claiming that learning wasn’t just about our neutrons or your genes. It’s believed that all behavior is learned from surrounding behaviors and behavior is a result of stimulus and response. Behaviorism is also scientific but ignores biology, it has many experiments to support its theories and is highly applicable in therapy. There are three ways to apply behaviorism, classical conditioning, operant conditioning, and observational learning.
We had four young children at home, ranging in age from one to eight years old, that needed their mother and my spouse was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Again, I continued my schooling as time and money would allow. There were times when I didn’t think I had it in me to continue. An advanced degree was my dream since elementary school but, I knew I’d probably never see graduation day. The day I graduated with my undergrad was emotional, exciting, and surreal.
My education journey has been through some setbacks, but I have continued to push forward and conquered. I have felt that I have a fixed mind set and just am not capable of achieving some things. After learning the difference between growth and fixed mindset I have realized that everyone is capable of learning anything through hard work and dedication.
