The social networking community is flourishing at a phenomenal rate and not with just the adolescents of America or other countries around the world, but with adults as well. People of any age now have an account on a social networking site such as Myspace, Facebook, or Twitter. The almost immediate success of social networking sites such as these can be contributed to the ease of communication that they provide. The simplicity of communication with friends and colleagues is nearly mind-boggling. However, this is not the only perk to the online community known as social networking. Social networking can be used as a splendid source of information, and not only to find out what a friend will be wearing to a get-together. Social networking can be used for political purposes, news information, medical, businesses, and even for teaching. Most importantly though social networking is a fantastic means of communication. Social networking is not a hazard to any person as long as it is used appropriately, when used as directed it can be a powerful mechanism at the populace’s disposal. The possibilities of social networking are virtually unlimited. Social networking is the impending future of communication, and should be embraced as a positive impact on society; it is a valuable connection. Social networking, specifically Facebook, first emerged on to the scene in early 2000’s established by a Harvard dropout, Mark Zuckerberg. Bursted in to the social scene might be the appropriate term, "There is over 500 million active users on Facebook ("Friends Without Borders.(Cover Story).” In relation to numbers Facebook would be the world’s third largest country, which would make the “country of Facebook” even bigger than the United States.
