President Trump plans to “make American great again.” In his first 100 days in office, he has muscled his executive power to capitalize on the promises he has made to his voters and the American people. During his campaign, the then Republican Presidential Nominee, Donald J. Trump made waves of promises to make the country great again. He promised to build a “great wall,” repeal Obama Care, withdraw the US from NAFTA and other international pacts, end ISIS, and a plethora of other grand, but empty promises. Like empty promises, the majority of Trump’s policies have been meaningless and a bad joke. What is not a joke is, Trump and his supporters’ view and rhetoric on immigration. From the very beginning, Trump and his supporters called for …show more content…
To add more fuel to his supporters’ xenophobic fire, Trump favored curbing foreign, non-immigrant workers through the H-1B Visa program because he and his supporters consider the program as a “theft of American prosperity”. Now, as President of the United States, Donald Trump signed a “Buy American, Hire American” Executive Order which not only aims to reform the H-1B Visa Program but halt it completely. From the rhetoric and policies of President Trump and his supporters, the US has become a very hostile and xenophobic country to immigrants and its future talents. Politicians and pundits seek to pit Americans workers against foreign talents as scapegoats. I argue that the H-1B visa program is what makes America great. For the US to meet its need and compete with the global marketplace, H-1B Visa is what will the US come on top. The H-1B Visa program was created to meet the needs of America’s evolving economy, and today the need is even …show more content…
At his rallies, President Trump described the visa program as an initiative that the companies have benefited under the cost of the American workers.
President Trump signed his lasted executive order,
There are other important leaders at the top echelons of the US government that are calling for the complete end of the H-1B program. The US Attorney General Jeff Sessions claimed, the H-1B program is a “tremendous threat” to Americans. Opponents of the H-1B visa has used rhetoric and false propaganda to build animosity to between American workers and foreign workers. Pundits and politicians claim that there is no need for the visa program and the program has hurt Americans more than it has helped. They have accused the program of driving down the wages of Americans by outsourcing cheap foreign workers.
There is a reason why the H-1B visa is also known as the “genius visa.” The H-1B attracts the smartest minds to our companies and public institutions. The applicants, especially the advanced degree holders in the STEM fields, are the crème de la crème of the foreign talent
Politics is dirty and competitive and has not changed between 1879 and 2018. It is a complex system of jargon, charm, facts, and lies. Mark Twain’s “The Presidential Candidate” satirically expresses the essence of both old-world and modern politics as a presidential candidate who blatantly tells the truth of his wrongdoings. As a politician, one must be an open book. Their life must be truthfully written on the pages for the readers to analyze and evaluate their credibility as leaders. “The Presidential Candidate” resonates both in 1879 and 2018 with his use of humor, use of diction and use of subtlety.
Bernie Sanders is running for President of the United States of America as a democratic candidate. His competition for the primary elections is Hillary Clinton, a well-known politician with plenty of experience under her belt. Bernie is running as a non-traditional candidate, which is a main factor of why his campaign is extremely successful and popular with the American people. A recent political ad released by Sander’s campaign team called “Real Change” emphasizes his family values and dedication to the working class, fighting for the votes of the average American. The ad implies Bernie is the right man for the job due to his long history of experience and commitment to the issues he believes in. This political ad illustrates how Bernie
In the U. S today, the approximated population of undocumented immigrants stands at averagely 11 million. Therefore, this has created a hot debate in Congress about the action to take over the undocumented immigrants. Those opposed to illegal immigrants suggest that, their stay in the United States effects U.S citizens on the job market negatively . In addition, illegal immigrants are viewed in certain quarters as takers in the sense that illegal immigrants benefit more from public resources than the american-born citizens of the U.S. However, the reality is that immigrants contribute positively to the U.S economy and pay significantly into the system compared to what they send back home.
Other countries see the United States as a land of opportunity and freedom. Because of this, Americans should be honored and willing to share their concept of freedom and equality with others. Instead, immigrants are forced to jump through hoops and struggle with red tape in hopes of experiencing American life. Currently, this hyped preconception is causing the immigration rate to become out of hand. With the illegal immigrate population growing by over 300,000 annually, it has developed into a national controversy. Like pouring sugar into a cup of coffee: some people don’t want any at all, while others think “the more the merrier”. This rift between parties will only be bridged by implementing a new, reformed immigration policy that incorporates the best of both worlds.
“The beauty of me is that I am very rich” according to Donald Trump. His ignorance has lead him to do things that he shouldn’t being doing or has done. In the past few months he has been racist man that would insult people that are from a different race. When Trump started running for president he would insult and bully everybody in general not knowing the people’s stories. He made people seem like they are poor and have nothing to live for, Trump’s inability to see past his greed. He wants to separate the United States and wants people to think he is the best of the best; Trump should not be President.
In 2007, the White House issued this statement in hopes to influence a Congressional debate: “Immigration has a positive effect on the American economy as a whole and on the income of native-born American workers” (Pear). This statement relates to the idea that immigrants actually enhance the productivity of American workers and increase their earnings in a significant amount, estimated at $37 billion a year (Pear). This is just one way in which immigrants support economic development in the United States. Since the U.S. is an i...
Immigration is an immeasurable problem here in the U.S., Trumps outlook for this issue states “They're bringing drugs, they're bringing crime, they're rapists,” Trump said of undocumented Mexican immigrants while announcing his candidacy last June. Building the border stronger end immigrants and refugees who don’t through rigorous vettings.
Immigration policies have been a hot-button issue for many years now, especially regarding emigration from Mexico. Politicians have started up campaigns promising to effectively end illegal immigration, claiming that it is the source of the United States’ unstable economy. However, similar plans have been enacted in a particularly vulnerable period, with little to no success, indicating that repetition would be a huge blow to both the economy and United States citizens.
Rhetorical Analysis Presidential Debate Clinton and Trump The presidential debate was an event where most of the population not only of United Stated of America but the whole world was waiting anxiously for. ...e private sector to find new growth opportunities and create new jobs. Furthermore, America always has been, and always will be a country of immigrants. Despite that rich tradition, Congress has not updated the country’s immigration policies in three decades. However, Congress now has an opportunity to fix the immigration system and improve the economic well-being of all Americans. Failure to address the issue will have severe consequences for America’s future and well-being, and that is why how America reforms the immigration system will determine its future. The current immigration system is outdated, broken, and reveals that Comprehensive Immigration Reform is urgently needed, and is good for America’s workers and the economy. Despite the claims, complaints and the resistance of many, Americans should welcome, accept and support Comprehensive Immigration Reform.
In recent headlines, the H-1B visa has come become a debatable topic. The number of visas distributed to skilled workers (H-1B) and who receives them, and whether the United States should increase or decrease the amount. Currently, the H-1B visa system is structure to administer 65,000 H-1B visas (Services, H-1B Fiscal Years (FY) 2014 Cap Season). According to the United States Citizenship and Immigration, 124,000 petitions were received during the 2013 fiscal year. (Services, H-1B Fiscal Years (FY) 2014 Cap Season). Some are suggesting that we need more skilled immigrant labor within our country for innovative and entrepreneurial exploration, while others are opposed to such a change and would prefer a decrease in the number of H-1B visas distributed, or are content with the current number of visas distributed. Such a decision requires research, and investigating in order to make a sound decision, on what is the best option. This paper discusses the purpose of H-1B visas, the main participants, the policy issue with the number of H-1B visas distributed, policy options and their costs and benefits, the importance, and the economic implications .
The image ‘Trump Sits Alone,’ was taken at the beginning of the G-20 European meeting (Elbaum, 2017). The target audience of the image are adults, primarily voters or those interested in politics. As the G-20 is an international event, the image is also targeting a universal audience. The photojournalist relies on ethos to convey the message that Donald Trump is not a suitable leader and will ultimately isolate America, to the audience.
Increasing the number of H-1B visas will benefit the overall American economy, however, reform of the current system should erase the possibility of suboptimal treatment inflicted by U.S. employers. The need for H-1B visa reform is critical to American comprehensive immigration reform. The H-1B program brings highly specialized talent to the United States and promotes economic growth and technological innovation. The current system in place does not assure foreign workers’ rights, ultimately making the United States an undesirable location for the world’s brightest.
Donald J Trump's first promise when he entered the presidential race last year was that all 11 million illegal immigrants would be deported back to their Homelands. There are three concepts to Donald Trump's immigration reform plan, which have opposing opinions on each of the individual concepts. First, deporting illegal immigrants would “ free up” millions of jobs for Americans in the country, so America will no longer put America's needs behind other countries. would just take leave this would not work, because it would just put America into a greater debt because most of the immigrants come to the United States for unpleasant jobs Americans do not want. with the immigrants gone in the Americans not wanting these jobs the jobs will
The government also issued a student visa (J1) to allow students from different country completes their OJT (On the Job Training) training before graduating and a H2B as a working visa. They occupy the spaces of the companies’ shortage of workers. According to Audrey Singer “Our economy is dependent on immigrant labor now and for the future.” They fill the places where most Americans would not step. Immigrant workers taking over the spots the local Americans are afraid of doing; this causes the high needs for immigrant workers to take up the job, the rapid increase job competition and unemployment. Unemployed workers should grab opportunities when they see an open spot for them to take and grab a hold of that
