04/25/2014 Religion and Social Life Religion benefits our society in various ways. In this paper, I will be discussing the importance of religion to the society. Religion provides comfort and quells dissatisfaction, it strengthens human community, religion assures us of comic order, it managed conflict in society, and it teaches us morals that helps we the people in the community to follow. Sociologist have highlight various ways society and religion are interconnected, First I discuss Karl Marx’s idea that “religion provides comfort quells dissatisfaction” (Mirola, Emerson & Monahan, 2011 page 5) believed that religion support individual and take people out of oppressive conditions. In other words, religions justify the fact that inequalities, and discrimination, are all something that is not good and we as people should not allow it to come in between us. Religions helps to protect the people from laws that work against people, and it justify the power and rules that against the oppression of the vulnerable people. It also comfort and console those who are in pain and suffering. Secondly, I discuss the idea that “Religion strengthens human community” (Mirola, Emerson & Monahan, 2011, page 6) Religions are one of the basic cultural structures that give people common ground beside from language, region, etc. It strengthens our culture in a way of giving us a common belief and unified us. Religion can strengthen a community by helping in bringing its people closer together, for example, taking care of other members of your church. This can make the people in the community love themselves and by doing so, it would bring friendship among the people in the community. For example having religious teaching like Christians, Jewish, Muslims, and Judaism are all alternative schools could have to prevent confusion among parent and school (Etzioni 2008 page 67). In summary religion as a whole play important role in the life of the people: By providing moral lessons to the communities thus creating a good friendship between one another. Religion in another way helps to strengthen our communities by giving the people a common ground to think and stay together. Religion provides comfort and quells dissatisfaction, religion assures us of comic order, and it teaches us morals that help the people in the community to follow. Finally religion helps to managed conflict between people and between Nations.
Religion is considered as a pervasive force in this world. It shapes people as to how they behave and interact with almost everything present in the society. Influencing behavior, character formations, ideals, policies, standards are just among the dimensions and societal perspectives affected and impacted by religion. Because of these applications and implications in human lives and existence, religion should be understood deeply, particularly, on how it affects the world. Looking at the American perspective of the term "religion," it could be simply
Religion plays a vigorous role in our existence. Sociologists believe that there is a connection between faith and humanity, how people live and their actions towards the way we live. Their aim is not to scrutinize this to prove if one religion is better than the other, but to corroborate the role of religion and its influence on our daily lives.

There are many social institutions that have major impacts on society. One of the trickiest social institutions would have to be, religion. Religion seems to have a huge impact on a society even if it’s directly or indirectly. Why is that? Do we need it? Does it let us live a more fulfilled life? What effects does it have on society? Is it necessary for a functioning society? According to Dalton Conley (2013:611) sociology defines religion as being a unified system of beliefs traditions, and practices around sacred things; a set of shared “stories” that guide belief and action. Religion is a way for people to make sense of the world, it keeps society in line with expected behaviors. Without religion people would subside to create their own rules and would deem to follow a path that could harm a society and come to an end. Religion is necessary for a society to function, prosper, and for someone to learn how to be a well moral contributor to society.
It help’s to provide a meaning of life and a means of support. It helps to bring people together on a deeper level. Without religion the beliefs and confidence of the people would be weaken. It helps to provide a social control in society. It helps to keep society in check and helps to provide a meaning to life.
“It is science, and not religion, which has taught men that things are complex and difficult to understand”-Emile Durkheim. Understanding religion is a very difficult task, with so many views and thousands of different religions. No matter what the religion is, or where it is located they all have an importance for society. The importance religion has is establishing what is correct and what is not. Religion has been around for many years, so has the many different understanding of the purpose religion has on society. Most of all the three key factors of religion that has an impact on society are; Social support, experience, maintain social control.
Religion teaches us to respect one another and not to just focus on ourselves but on others as well. We are told if we help other out from the goodness of our hearts we will be rewarded in some way. For example, in the Bible it says, “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Religion gives us moral code and helps us understand one another more. People can argue against this and say we can learn moral code and understanding some other way but the truth is humans can be very selfish and only look out for themselves, “survival of the fittest”.
some, such as Karl max saw that religion is a way strong of a tool that impairs social evaluation. Which resulted in ethnic and religious cleansing and furthermore proved to be the wrong approach to defining the role that religion plays in societies behaviors. I for one, think that religion is an indispensable and integral part of human sociology; furthermore, I believe understanding this relationship would lead to social development.
Provides a reason of hope for after life to always do good and embrace God. Religion provides mental peace for those who are going through a rough time. People struggle for their survival everyday with the dangers all around the world. We may feel helpless at times and may feel as no one is their for us in this cold world.
Religion is an organized collection of beliefs and cultural systems that entail the worship of a supernatural and metaphysical being. “Religion just like other belief systems, when held onto so much, can stop one from making significant progress in life”. Together with religion come traditions that provide the people with ways to tackle life’s complexities. A subscription to the school of thought of great scholars

Social stability is the capstone of a fully-functioning society. It is premised on social development, freedom, and harmony (Sengupta, p. 5103, 2004). There are many components which assist in the achievement of social stability; one being social justice through religion. The purpose of this paper is to examine social justice advocated through religion in an effort to attain social stability.
We need religion in order to develop both this inner peace and peace among the world’s people that is the essential role of religion today and in pursuit of this goal, harmony among the different traditions become
My definition of religion has mostly stayed the same, but my perception of it has changed. At the beginning of the class, I assumed religion was something you believed based on your moral principles. I now believe that those moral principles are based on the religion that you believe in. Your religion changes your perception of the world and how to go about in it. Your religion tells you what is right and wrong in the world and answers all of the big questions one asks. Religion according to our book is, “A pattern of beliefs and practices that expresses and enacts what a community regards as sacred and/or ultimate about life” (Van Voorst 6). That definition was one thing that really got me thinking about my own personal idea of what religion
