Personal Reflection:
The trainee in this scenario shared less information about her professional as well as personal life. Which indicates that the supervision was not effective enough to deal with issues of supervisee. So it can be said that some part of this session went well, and some part didn't reach the objectives. With the support of Gibbs reflective model (Gibbs, 1988), I would like to focus on these points and try to comment on them. During the supervision session, first I tried making the trainee comfortable, then tried to enquire her problems. After that I focused more on the major issue, that was case history taking. I tried asking her by all possible ways about the mistake she is committing. Initially, I felt that maybe she is not ready to accept the fact and taking this question as a criticism. But then she stated that she is not aware of her mistake because nobody pointed it out before.
About evaluating that experience, it has both bad and good sides. We both remained acceptable to the facts and information. The trainee responded positively though she didn't open up much. As now it can be concluded that to make a supervision session effective it is essential to have a deep understanding of these facts and theories. Characteristics of both supervisor and supervisee are equally important. As supervisors must know their roles and responsibilities at the same time, supervisee should have interest towards reflective practice. Maintaining a good supervisory relationship will be useful to analyse the problems. If there are any signs of underperformance seen in the supervisee, the supervisor can approach them to sort out the matter before it causes
Clinical Supervision is the life wire of any health are professional. It is the on the job teaching that takes place between the supervisor and supervisee. It is a lifelong learning used for personal and professional development which is useful both in nursing education and clinical practice. The purpose of this essay is to reflect and critically study an incident from a clinical setting whilst using a model of reflection. This will allow me to analyse and make sense of the incident and draw conclusions relating to personal learning outcomes. The significance of critical analysis and critical incidents will briefly be discussed followed by the process of reflection using the chosen model. The incident will then be described and analysed and the people involved introduced. It is imperative for supervisors to focus on what is required in order for his/her employees to accomplish their job. They must be supportive of their employees and provide continual feedback on their job performance .Supervisor need to include their employees when making changes that effect they way they perform their jobs or finding new way to do things that were problematic. I believe placing student nurses in the clinical setting is vital in becoming competent nurses. Every experience the student experiences during their placement has an educative nature therefore, it is important for the students to take some time to reflect on these experiences. The general practices of a Clinical Psychologist is to asses patients, diagnose disorders and recommend possible treatments. They integrate scientific theories, understand, and focus on intellectual, emotional, biological, social and behavioral adjustments. They allow people to vent and cope with their feelings while determining what exact type of treatment would best suit them and their emotional well-being. To become a Clinical Psychologist it can become a very difficult and distressing job and it may or can become overwhelming. However with the right patience and comfortable adjustments one can assess and help another cope with their mental instability.
