Life lessons are learned daily. Therefore, the theme of my dinner party is going to revolve around life lessons. I am inviting William Wordsworth, Frederick Douglas, Henrik Ibsen, and Lord Tennyson. William Wordsworth writes on what none of us want to hear. We all have flaws in our religious walks, but they so often go ignored. “He turned the readers’ attention away from classical models and Gothic supernatural stories to everyday emotion and imagination, championing the spontaneity of authentic feelings.” (Puchner et al. 919;1). Frederick Douglas is straight up and to the point. There is no sugar coating slavery from him; he tells us the true encounters slaves faced. Here by reserving a theme of the nineteenth-century. This party will take place in Great Britain at the Camelot, the unlucky destination in Tennyson’s “The Lady of Shalott”. Mozart’s 40th Symphony will be played in the background of the event; to establish a calm, cheerful setting. Dinner will be served at six in the midst of fall on October 21st. The menu will consist of two courses and a dessert, following the nineteenth-century tradition. For the first course there will be pease soup, lamb, celery, potatoes, lima beans, and spinach. To follow in the second course there will be pigeon with peas, corn, rice, and asparagus. Dessert will be served as custard, fruit tarts, and confections with cheese. Of course there must be drinks included which will vary from wine, beer, soda, and water. As would at any nineteenth-century event the lady, myself, will wear a dress and petticoat. I would enjoy most to have conversation with Frederick Douglas, so he will sit at the right of me. Beside him will be Lord Tennyson. To my left will be William Wordsworth because I have questions for him regarding his writing “The World Is Too Much with Us”. Then, Henrik Ibsen will be seated across from Lord Tennyson. They can compare and contrast the emotions and meaning behind there writing which both conveys an unruly women. As a group, we will discuss each of their works and the differences between them that make them unique as well as the similarities and common
