On the first day of college; my teachers said to me; Study hard and you 'll get a degree. The Course 's Enduring Understanding (EU) is ideas, habits, and general comprehension of what students should know or will soon find out. Over the course of my first semester I learned ideas such as studying, sceduding, and trying to fit all that into one week and 5 classes. I also learned habits such as reading, thinking, listening, presenting. We used all of those skills in the course of the whole semester and it kind of got me read for what the other courses where going to bring. It worked for me to an extinct like I had to basically form an alliance or network of people who were in my classes to get myself to stay focused and sometimes help them stay focused. I used to think i needed a small pill in order to get through a tough test or stay up all night cramming all the information I need for the test the next day. But I learned if instead of cramming i studied at the library for an hour a day I would do a lot better than cramming. Although we have spended a handful of nights staying up till studying and going over our study guides. I think I just might have to study even though it 's no fun and I can 't concentrate . I have friends like Matt and Deb who if i 'm writing an essay and get distracted by my phone will nicely ask me “So Rique how is that essay going?” just because they want me get it done so we can leave. I might wanna keep them around for next semester. This course taught me that I should surround myself with people who share the same interests as me like Leela and Zay who are also Art Education majors. I will use that when I am no longer in college and trying to pursue my dreams and needing a good network. I need to work on my writing skills but i am getting there... in

Throughout the length of schooling, students go through various changes. In their first year of school, children are required to make the transition from being at home for the entire day to being in school for a number of hours a day. These transition periods happen many times through the schooling years, but the most drastic changes occur during the transition from high school to college, where students weather numerous lifestyle changes. While each individual student goes on their own journey, certain themes remain common between different students. Studies are done to look at these themes identifying the numerous differences and similarities.

First in the Family: A First Generation College Student. Across universities throughout the United States, the presence of first-generation college students is on the rise (Stephens 1). Students whose parents do not have a degree in higher education, are being given the opportunity to shape their future for the better as they embark on a journey to receiving a four year degree unlike their parents who were not given such an opportunity. With the number of first-generation college students on the rise from the past, I became interested in seeing how the views, relationships, and ideas of these students were unique, and how they differed from the average student attending a university; an average student coming from at least a middle class background who has at least one parent with a degree in higher education.
I have often wondered what it would be like to experience the freedom of choosing my own class schedule. This has to be infinitely more stimulating and enjoyable. I am also aware that college will be significantly more challenging, but I have always found it easier to study for a class that interests me. I am willing to accept the fact that as long as I am in school, there will be required courses which may not engender excitement or enthusiasm; however, success should not be as difficult to achieve due to the maturity that is developing during this last year of high school. In addition, I have gained an understanding of the benefit of being well rounded. There is value in all classes taken. It helps to know that even my least favorite subject will contribute to the ultimate goal of personal and career development.
This one being your first year in college, you may have trouble concentrating while you study. Some techniques that can help your concentration are being selective, relaxing, and over learning. Being selective means to make choices about what is most important to learn. When you are studying, you should be able to know what may or may not be on the test, your notes for the week can be helpful. In addition, pay attention to charts, tables, and illustrations that you think may appear on the test. Relaxing is a good technique to use because when you are relaxed you are able to absorb more information. One way to relax is to use a breathing technique (inhale, count from one to ten, and exhale, and count from one to ten, and so on). Over learning can help you fight mental vagueness. When you are struggling in a class, it is best for you to learn more than you need to know about the subject. You can use these techniques every time you are studying or when you cannot concentrate.
When I first enrolled here at State University, I never thought I would ever be in the position to graduate. Finishing college was a huge goal growing up but it was also my biggest fear. But after three and a half years of dedication I plan to get my degree in the fall. Getting this far in college was not easy, it took encouragement from family, dedication, and assistance from others to reach this position.
To think that my first semester of college will be over this friday makes me realize how fast time flies. The first few weeks of college were tough, tiring and full of anxiety. Being in a new environment, a different state and not knowing one single person was something that I did not prepare myself for. Throughout all of the tears and the frustrations, I had to constantly remind myself that I am at The University of Akron to gain an education and become a successful individual.

Through the last 13 weeks I have learned about whom I am and what makes me who I am. I have made some great friends not only my age but also older and younger than me. I have realized many things about myself that I never would have realized if I wouldn’t have came here. College is a whole new experience that you could never imagine unless you are there. It is nothing like you read or even that you watch on TV. It is completely different and you learn a lot about yourself as a person.
Out of everything that we 've learned this quarter, goal setting was something that stood out to me. There are a few times where I set a goal in my head but end up never achieving them, wether it was something very simple or more of a long term goal. A technique that stood out to me in our notes is, writing down your goals. I don 't I 've ever written down a single goal that I 've had. In class and in our notes we talked about how it is important to write down your goals and how you cannot just write the general idea of your goal, but how you need to be very specific in what it is you want to achieve. I think that in college it 's very important to set long, mid, and short term goals because somedays will be harder than others and you need
College students must find time in their busy schedules to study. In order to keep up they must do daily assignments. Reading every night helps to prepare for the exams. Taking notes in class and out of class are also necessary. Students also have exams at the end of the semester that require hours of studying. Waiting until the last minute and then cramming it all in is often a final resort. Many students who have kept up just go over and recall the information. All students must find time to study in order to pass.
Throughout my experience in the link I have learned to appreciate any help I received. When I entered College for the first time, I wanted to know how it feels to have to think critically, and to be an independent student. I wanted to know what the true meaning of “working hard” actually meant. In high school I passed without attending my classes, but I knew it won’t be the same in college. I was ready to challenge myself to be on top of my game and get straight A’s. Now that the semester has ended I have realized the challenge to get straight A’s was a lot harder than I thought. I wasn’t used to not receiving a great deal of help when I needed it, I thought being independent and thinking for my-self would be trouble-free. However, college has taught me to grow up, and to stop comparing college to high school.
Finding a good place to study will help a bunch, by making sure the spot is free of distractions (Dartmouth). Setting up study groups and using the library will also help when it is time to study (Hansen). Make a plan to study two hours for every hour that is spent in class, but just make sure that 30 minutes breaks are taken often and do not study the same subject after the break (Berkeley and Hansen). Knowing a good way to learn also helps. Some students learn better in the day time or better in the nighttime. Just figure out the best way to learn and then use that time to study (Dartmouth).
My University is an educational institution which is widely recognized all over the world. It originated from Philippines and collaborates with PSBA (Philippine School of Business Administration). It has 2 branches in Jakarta which is located in Hayam Wuruk and the other one in Kelapa Gading. My University has been my first choice because I believe that it as the ability to provide me with quality education.
