We learned a lot of things in this course, but I think the most important lesson I learned is that it’s not easy to be an entrepreneur. I was surprised to hear in the first class that 80% of startups fail, but after reading The Art of Start and E-myth Revisited I understood why this happens more often than one might expects. Some people start their own businesses for the wrong reason and some start with wrong mindset. I’ve always thought that if someone has a brilliant business idea and hardworking they will succeed and grow their business. However, now I know that there are many things to consider before starting any business. Every “true” entrepreneur knows that there will be never enough time or money to make things right when starting a new business. So it’s vital to focus on the most important thing, which is the customer. To understand the importance of knowing customers, imagine an entrepreneur with a flawless and innovative product but doesn’t have enough customers to sustain the business and the opposite is true. For entrepreneurs to be customer-focused they need to understand customers needs rather than focusing on great products or wonderful services. This is what I did on my final project; the idea behind my business is to offer customers who live in a very hot area of the world cold treats but in a different and new way. First you should always make yourself valuable, learn different skills that will make you useful in multiple ways. Have you ever wondered what it takes to be successful? Some people are not born into success or wealth. Many successful entrepreneurs had a vision they turned into reality. Samuel Truett Cathy is one prime example of a man who lived out his convictions. An inventor of the beast-of-chicken sandwich, mall counter service in the days before food courts and Sunday closing as a policy, Truett Cathy celebrated his 80th birthday in 2001. Many might think of him as a true modern-day role model and hero. Some sees him as the Chick-fil-a man. From his book “It’s Easier to Succeed than to Fail”, Cathy represented a real-life case history showing that a determined and energetic entrepreneur can overcome anything. Cathy stated, “ The secret to success is not secret at all. It is very obvious, but we are too often blinded to the truth.” (Cathy, p. 191)
In my quest to gain as much knowledge of the business world as I can, I have come across another personal goal of mine: to overcome my immense fear of failure. Every regular human being has an innate fear of failing, whether it be because of societal pressure, or instinctually ingrained behaviors, it is present in everyone. The goal of taking this entrepreneurship class was originally to learn about creating your own business, but after reading Tina Seelig’s What I Wish I Knew When I Was 20: A Crash Course on Making Your Place in the World, I have become driven to be able to step out of my comfort zone. This book covers a multitude of topics, nearly all boiling down to one lesson; Always take the risk.
The lesson on success and not giving up was one of the most important things I learned about entrepreneurial thinking in this class. This lesson really impacted me because it showed me that even people we consider extremely successful today were told they could not do it and failed multiple times before their success.
1. Research your customer thoroughly before your meeting. People like to feel important and the best way to achieve this is by knowing enough about the client. This will also help you ask the right questions and align your offering with the needs of the client.

The entrepreneur may be driven by a need to make something new or assemble something unmistakable. As new ventures have low achievement rates, the business person should have impressive tirelessness. In How To Succeed In Business By Breaking All The Rules it states that to succeed in business one must be able to use an unorthodox style which allows that person to break free from ancient ways of thinking and be able to use new ideas in developing entrepreneurial and business skills. One way this will be proven is to look at how positive thinking and motivation hamper people in making tough business decisions. Secondly, this will be proven by examining the education system, and showing that one does not always need a university education to perform in a business environment. Thirdly, this will be proven by looking at the behavioral aspects of an entrepreneur, and how an entrepreneur's thinking pattern is quite unique compared to the average person. Finally, this will be proven by looking at the illusions of management and how managers have to adapt if they want to see results.
Conclusion: In conclusion, as Steve said "I’m convinced that about half of what separates the successful entrepreneurs from the non-successful ones is pure perseverance" that the secret of success. The person who wishes to success, he should recognize his weakness and formulates a plan to overcome them and he must have a clear goal for life. What's need is an idea put into action followed with proper planning and persistency.

The success of a business is greatly dependent on its entrepreneur. An entrepreneur is someone who takes the financial risk of starting and managing a new business venture. In order to be a successful entrepreneur, one must be ready to take a risk and invest one’s own savings into a business. The job requires that the individual be ambitious and committed to working hard in order to achieve the set targets. A successful entrepreneur is able to multi-task and communicates effectively with people, possessing leadership qualities such as confidence and motivation. The individual must play the role of constant motivator and inspire employees to improve their work performance, whilst ensuring a comfortable environment for the employees to work in. According to Schumpeter (1982), an entrepreneur is more of a ‘heroic’ than an ‘economic’ figure; his motivation should not solely be monetary, rather stemming more from inspiration and ambition.
1. WHY? Develop your "why". As an entrepreneur, not all times you have in business will be perfect. In fact, there will be many, many difficulties along the way. However, if you can develop your why, you can achieve success. Your why must be this personal, passionate, emotional drive that keeps you going, when the world tells you to give up.
