The medical record and documentation of medical care is a legal catalog of the patient´s individual medical visit and treatment that provides the proof for the providers and health care organizations and also allows portability of records for the patient, so it is vitally important the privacy of this information, on which only the patient can decide who can access it. There are some exceptions where the information can be use without the patient document law issues to protect the patient concern as: Criminal acts as evidence for abuse cases, rapes, gunshot wounds and stabbings; Legal Ordered (orders or court subpoenas regardless of cause); Communicable Diseases where the centers of control and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases and acute respiratory diseases need access to information; Mandated, court orders and tests ordered by insurance companies and employers …show more content…
