Before Philippe Petit walked the high wire between the Twin Towers in 1974, people weren’t certain how they felt about the construction of the World Trade Center. After Philippe performed, people began to warm up to the idea of the towers. Philippe Petit walked the high wire between the Twin Towers on August 7, 1974. Policemen and firefighters from all around New York and surrounding areas came to help rescue the victims.
On the first day after the Twin Towers fell, when the skies were silent and the country cried, a sense of patriotism was greatly increased and appreciated. Many people came from several different countries, with many different skills, but everyone who came all had one

On September11, 2001 at 8:46 am an American Airline Plane carrying 96 passengers crashed into the side of the north Twin Tower in New York City. Several minutes later another plane crashed into the second Twin Tower. It didn’t take long after the second plane struck for the second tower to fully collapse. At 10:28 am the first tower followed suite and collapsed leaving many people including fire fighters and police officers trapped in the debris from the falling towers. The debris from the falling towers also caused the surrounding building to catch a fire, including World Trade 7 which at 5:20 pm collapsed luckily they were able to evacuate the building. On the morning of September 11, 2001, exactly at 9:22 a.m., I woke up to start my day and turned my television on. Instantly, Fox News had reported that a commercial plane had smashed into the Twin Towers of New York City, just minutes earlier. While the story was certainly shocking, I wanted to know more and watched the horrific aftermath unfold, as it continued to happen. I remember an incredible feeling of sadness that I could do nothing to help the people in these buildings, as well as a great concern that more attempts could be made to create further tragedy elsewhere.
September 11th, 2001 will forever be etched into American history as one of the worst terrorist attacks against the United States. To memorialize the victims that perished on this day, an official memorial was built in the footprints of the World Trade Centers (WTC). While the goal of this memorial was to be peaceful, some debates have arisen about the memorial. Some believe that they should have something different for the design and others dislike components of the winning design. Even with the many debates that surround this memorial, it is still a valuable piece of art to the public that provides a place for families and others to remember those who were killed on that day. People that visit the memorial connect with it physically and emotionally.
The first plane, American Airlines flight 11, struck the north tower of the World Trade Center at 8:44 am September 11, 2001. (Wachtel 10)When many people first heard the news of the crash, they thought it was just an accident. Little did they realize that the hijackers intentionally crashed the plane. The north tower was one of two Twin Towers of the World Trade Center overlooked lower Manhattan. The smoke rising from the crash was incredibly thick so the people trapped above the impact point jumped to their deaths instead of facing suffocation.
When the design for the World Trade Center was first envisioned, the magnificence of its structure was expected to surpass the greatest feats of Civil engineering in the world. When the Center was completed in 1973 it gained the distinction of being the world’s tallest tower. It gained the type of attention that was given to the Eiffel tower and the Empire State Building as it was too going to break records and inspire greatness by its simple but massive stature. It was to also have social, ideological, political, and economic impact on the US and the world as well as that of its engineering aspects. To America it would represent proudly the might of its capitalist society. It would also be a home of thousands of political and financial employees of the US as well as the nations that participate in trade with the US. The NY and NJ port authorities began contemplating building a World Trade Center in 1961; the same year JFK announced his intent to put a man on the moon before the end of the decade. Such lofty ideas challenged the present technological boundaries and were successful in stretching those walls ever further.
Deutsch’s narrative poem takes place on a train in “New York City, 2001,” stopping at places such as “Astor” and “Rector,” train stations in New York City with little significance in relation to the theme. Although the writer never mentions a particular disaster, Deutsch’s allusion implies that “the disaster” refers to the attacks on 9/11. Most, if not all,
On September 11th, 2001 at the World Trade Center 2,749 people were killed when hijacked American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175 were crashed into the north and south towers. 412 of them were rescue workers who came to help. 147of them were passengers or crew members on the two flights. 102 Minutes by Jim Dwyer and Kevin Flynn, the title referring to the time between when the first airplane hit the north tower and the south tower collapsed, tells the stories of what is happening inside the Twin Towers on September 11th and the fight for survival under unimaginable conditions.
The Eiffel Tower is so amazing. It stands 1,063 feet tall in Paris and took 2 years, 2 months, and 5 weeks to build which is an impressive time for such a tall building. The Eiffel Tower is a strong yet delicate building. It was made from puddle iron and many rivets.(rivets are kind of like big nails) It used to be the tallest structure in the world, but many buildings have past it's height since it was first built in 1887. The Eiffel Tower comes from four different feet that are held in the ground by many rivets. All of the feet meet up in the middle and go up for 984 feet until the top. The Eiffel Tower has three different platforms at different heights. The intermediate platform is just above the meeting of the feet. All the platforms are reached by stairs and elevators. The Eiffel Tower has been visited by more than 167 million people since it first opened in 1889. The day thousands of people lost their lives, the day terrorists came into our country and destroyed the Twin Towers, the day of September 11th, 2001 will never be forgotten in history all across the world. This devastating day led to many controversies and unanswered questions. The airplanes flying into the towers were one of the main causes of destruction. However, many speculate that the towers were in fact blown down with explosives placed in selected areas with the intention to make the towers crumble. With the help of the many first hand survivors, local witnesses, scientific studies, and known facts about the towers, many can determine the real cause of the collapse. Explosive devices, along with the airplanes are the main reason for the deaths, destruction and sorrow on the day of 9/11.
