What is customer service and how does it connect to the soft skills needed to be a pharmacy technician? The topic of customer service has been covered extensively the past couple of weeks, and my perception of it now is extremely different than my perception of it when i started this course. Not only will i talk about my newfound knowledge of customer service in this paper and one the soft skills required to be the best employee possible, but i will also talk about how these two things relate to having the job of being a pharmacy technician. When i started here i thought that customer service was purely an employee doing their best to satisfy a customers needs and wants. Now that i am a little over half way through this part of my schooling, i have come to realize that customer service is so much more than just providing the service nesseccary to move the customer along. Communication, building rapport, and giving feedback are just a few of the things that have changed the way i see customer service forever. It is imperrative that you communicate thorough eye contact, body language and vocal …show more content…
cues. Although commuication plays a huge role in successful customer service, building rapport and giving feedback are just as important. It is essential to always remember the diiference between the golden rule and the platinum rule. Customers dont want to to be treated the way they treat others, they want to be treated the way they want to be treated. Integrity is having a set of values and sticking to them, no matter what.
It is also a very important thing to have in your career, it enhances the businesses reputation and creates loyal customers. Trust keeps customers coming back, this is why it is imprtant to have integrity because it helps build a relationship based on trust. Most customers would rather pay more money to a business with great ethics than save money going to a business that is untrustworthy. This same concept can be applied to the relationship with superiors and their employees, when an employee feels that they can trust their superior it makes for a much harmonized work place. Having integrity and honesty means that you will lose things from customers to employees but in the end it is worth it. Integrity is very closely linked to trust and it is a very imortant aspect of leadership and
accountablity. Pharmacy technicions have an immense amount of responsibiliy, their job includes preparing and dispensing prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist. As you can imagine, great customer service and integrity play a huge role in this job.
In the world of pharmacy, it has become increasingly common for the technicians and assistants who are minding the store. Pharmacy technicians are the people who help the patients in different ways. The roles of a pharmacy technician have changed so much over the years (Saffer 34). In the past, a pharmacy technician is primary job was to fill prescription. However, now they have several responsibilities dealing with comparing and selling prescriptions to the patients. Pharmacy technicians have the opportunity to specialize in different areas of healthcare, such as advising patients about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and better living.
The topic of instruction is pharmacy calculations, and many students fear this section of the pharmacy technician national certification exam. It is also the part of their job that distresses them the most. Pharmacy technicians are expected to perform calculations quickly and accurately – for the exam and on the job. Many different calculations must be learned, and the calculations truly must be done correctly or lives of pharmacy patients may be at risk. This is a heavy burden for pharmacy technicians to bear.
Pharmacy technicians hold important roles and duties in the pharmacy. They are essentially the pharmacist’s aide, but they hold many responsibilities in controlling the drugs. I interviewed a pharmacy technician, Kathy, who worked at Doctor’s Pharmacy, an independent pharmacy. Kathy was kind enough to take some time out of her day to allow me to ask her questions, mainly about her education, roles and experiences she had as a pharmacy technician.
For starters, I felt that the discussion and activity relating to the attributes of a Pharmacy Technician was useful and insightful given the fact that it was professionally conducted and spoken by experienced members in enabling invaluable communicative purposes for career awareness and betterment through an engaged and collaborative environment.Additionally, I feel as though that all pharmacy technician need to have a well-rounded skill set to help patients with their medication needs. Important traits range from dependability and integrity, to attention to detail and sound reporting skills, supporting their ultimate goal of ensuring that drug therapy is carried out safely and successfully. My intent is to incorporate these important traits
My first day of clinicals at White Star Pharmacy, was exciting and I learned a lot of information that will be useful for when I actually begin to work as a Pharmacy Technician. I learned that at White Star, the pharmacist is the one that does all the computer/paperwork, they put in all the medication, patient, and insurance information. The pharmacy technicians are the ones who prepare the medications and label the bottles, and the pharmacist will then check their work and flip the bottle upside down when it is correct and ready to be bagged. The pharmacy technicians were really nice and helpful, even though I look confused about a few things, they took the time to explain it to me. For example, when I was asked to place a medication bottle
I have been a pharmacy technician with Walgreens pharmacy for three years. I worked full time after graduating and was able to work my way up to become a Senior Certified Pharmacy Technician. As a senior technician, I have many leadership duties; for instance, I am in charge of inventory management and training other technicians. My fellow co-workers and I work well together. We are an efficient team and are always available to help each other when problems
A pharmacy technician will start their day by preparing their facility or pharmacy ready for business. This procedure includes turning on equipment such as computers, scales, printers and fax machines. They must also wipe down or sterilize the counter tops, scales, pill counting trays, and other medication measuring devices. This prevents bacteria or any type of contamination. Pharmacy technicians require very good social skills because you’re conversing with customers or patients every day. They greet their customer and take their papers for their perception and enter crucial information in to a type of database to keep records of patients and medications. Then the technician prepares the medications and packages it correctly for the customer.

Being a pharmacy technician, I have had an opportunity to work with pharmacists in order to understand how to be a pharmacist. I have learned that pharmacists play a vital role in the healthcare system because of the information and remedies they provide to their patients. Moreover, I have seen how they are not only “a chief of preparer of drugs” (Edward Kremers and Glenn Sonnedecker, 11) but also a bridge between physicians and patients. I participated in an event which showed me how significant pharmacists are. This event happened when I dispensed the medication for my patient and asked him if he had any questions for the pharmacist about his eye drops. He looked at me with stunned eyes and said that he had an otic infection, not an optic infection.
My A-levels and BTEC studies have prepared me to meet the demands to be trained as a pharmacy technician. The mathematics l have studied has given me accuracy in using complex formulae. In Health and Social Care, we have studied equality and diversity: one of the most
Having A strong Character in Leadership is important because those around us will look at us and see what morals and values we hold and do. We can have standards and say the type of character we value but ultimately how we conduct ourselves is the foundation on which we stand. There is no other way. People around us will see us and how we behave, think, and feel, and this will determine rather or not the goal you have set out to accomplish or the goal the organization envisions you work at will be accomplished. This is where having strong integrity comes to play it is a trait that supports your character, corrupt integrity, corrupt character. Like A garden; Good soil will produce a harvest, but without good soil it will remain barren. Integrity is like a filter for water it is purifying...
My job as a pharmacy technician includes various tasks throughout the pharmacy. This includes typing prescriptions received by medical professionals, counting medications, reviewing the pharmacists check of the prescription, distributing the prescriptions to the patient, taking prescriptions from medical professionals, working with insurance companies for the coverage of patients, providing health screenings for patients and ensuring patients are informed about their medications. Being in direct contact with patients and medical professionals for the majority of my work shifts has allowed me to understand the medical struggles that patients face and further my knowledge of the medical field.
Customer service representatives are in charge of collaboration with customers by means of telephone, email, fax, mail, or in individual. They are the first purpose of contact of the customer with the company. It is their obligation to answer inquiries, settle issues, handle complaints and react to requests. Customer service representatives are required in all fields; finance, assembling, medicinal and protection, just to give some examples. Bosses depend on them to secure helpful communication in the middle of company and customers. I have interviewed Mr. Jacob Dawson who is working as operation manager in customer care services department at Universal Techno Outputs (UTO).
Integrity is the adherence to moral and ethical principles and is a term that is encorporated into many different aspects of life such as business, relationships, and society (Dictionary.com, 2014). The most important aspect of integrity is its relationship to ethics. Pride et al. (2015) stated that "ethics is the study of right and wrong and of the morality of the choices individuals make." Ethics and integrity both place a great deal of importance on fairness and honesty. While the term integrity is broad, its relationship to ethics and business can help describe its true meaning. There are three factors that affect integrity and ethical behavior. These factors include individual factors, social factors, and opportunity. A better understanding of these factors and the role they play in ethics and business provides a clearer definition of what integrity is (Pride et al., 2015).
You have to have an upbeat attitude, remain positive, be patient, and helpful. You have to have good communication skills because sometimes people can be difficult to talk to, but you need to know how to react and respond to them. (Bobbie Pattillo) Aside from personality and the education needed, you need to be able to work quickly and effectively. You have to pay close attention to detail. If you do not you might give the wrong dosage, which could harm the patient. Pharmacy requires a lot of education, so you need to be able to use what you have learned everyday. (pharmiweb, 2012) I am somewhat shy, but I work hard and complete all of my task. I feel like I would be successful in a pharmacy that fills prescriptions all day and does not deal with people as much. I would definitely need to work on my communication skills and adapt to talking to more people. I think I am a positive person most of the time. It is hard for me to be patient with people because I know I’m working my hardest to please people. I am the type of person that likes to get things done even if I have to step on someone’s toes. I feel like I am organized which is beneficial. The skills required are skills that I need to work on, but I do have some skills that would be
