Recommended: Why should we ban homework

Hands starting to twitch, eyes starting to water, all of a sudden she heard the sound of water dropping onto a piece of white paper full of long extraordinary detailed describing words. She looks down at her paper and notices a dark damp spot on the middle of her paper. She just then realizes that she has been doing her homework for 3 straight hours. The time is 11 a.m. and she still has to study for her big math exam. Most students realize that homework is more than just extra practice. It is stopping them from living a normal life and having family time, students should put their family and exercise over homework. However some students show better test and quiz grades when they have extra practice in the subject, and more time doing a certain …show more content…

In all school districts homework should be banned because it causes stress to students. For many of the students "They're sacrificing a decent night's sleep, exercise, family time, a social life, and spare moments to simply read, invent, dream, or explore—everything that's essential to a growing mind. Headaches, stomach aches, sleeplessness, and depression rates among teens are soaring” ( "Homework: Is homework beneficial to students?"). This quote states that kids are giving up a lot of important things just in order to complete their homework for school. Kids are having to complete so many things, it is causing them to rush which leads to stress, and things that could possible stop your brain from growing into …show more content…

However, this is an incorrect argument because to actually prepare for the real world students would have to be taught by a qualified teacher instead of doing it all by themselves, just like kids having homework. Sarah Boesveld, states that "This kid I met after school in summertime [told me], 'If I had to do homework or daily stuff, I would have failed'". Her point is that having homework everyday hurts people gades. Getting prepared for the real word can happen in class, but just doing homework is not going to prepare students. Homework gives kids less time to study for test and quizzes, they need all the time they can with still getting a good night of sleep. This is significant because the most important thing after school is to get kids ready for the real world and teach them important life
