Personal Statement For Becoming A Nurse

As a Registered Nurse, I am constantly learning new things every single day. Learning about the body, how the body reacts to certain medications, how mental health ties in so directly to physical health and also how important the basic human needs truly are. I am honored and blessed to be able to call myself a nurse and to be a part of my patients’ healing while they are under my care. I have become a stronger person since I became a nurse, and for that I am truly thankful. It is at this time in my life that I find myself seeking more. Seeking more answers, more knowledge, more autonomy, and most importantly more life and nursing skills. As an RN, I can only do so much for my patients each day, within my scope of practice, and depending on As a Pediatric NP, I will be responsible for using my knowledge and critical thinking skills to diagnose and treat the many complex medical conditions found in infants, children and adolescents, while also focusing on disease prevention and overall health promotion. I believe that my academic background has prepared me immensely for my graduate degree. While at Regis College, I completed my BSN in just 16 short months, and was honored to be a part of the first graduating class of the Accelerated BSN program. My previous bachelor’s degree at Westfield State was also something I am extremely proud of. I was able to change my major halfway through my freshman year, and still managed to complete my four-year BS degree in just 3 years. I am confident that I will be successful in this program, because I thrive in environments where I am put under extreme pressure and find myself most successful when I have more things to do and less time to do them. My time as an RN has also prepared me for this next step in my life by teaching me more about myself as a person and as a nurse. I have learned to better manage my time, and how to prioritize my days, while using my critical thinking skills to make changes to my plan as necessary throughout my
