Personal Narrative: My First Car

A time in which I had to make a big decision that had consequences was the time I had to pick my first car. In the decision on to pick which car I had to think about these three factors gas milage, time frame, and part availability. Picking the car that met all these goals would be the deciding factor in which one I got. In my family we have been blessed in having nine cars, most of which are classic cars. The two cars I had to pick from was a 1978 Chevy Camaro Z28 or a 1988 Pontiac Formula Firebird. The only catch was that neither one was a finished car. Bither were torn apart for restoration. The camaro we had been working on, but still needed lots of work. The firebird on the other hand we had just bought from a junkyard in Little Rock AR. I took into consideration that they would both need a lot of work but we didn’t know how much was needed. Both cars had manual transmissions, good handling, good looks, horsepower, AC, but both didn’t have the best fuel economy. The Camaro got 16 mpg while the Firebird got 20 mpg. I had picked it because i had the better gas milage or the two, had way more parts for it, but the only thing that it didn’t had was a good time frame in which to build it. My dad and I decided to start on the car a month early. We had to tear down two of the three Firebird to create one good one. At first it seemed as things were going smoothly but we soon found our self with some time consuming issues. We had sent the engine off to be machined so we could rebuild it together but the engine took longer than we thought to get machined.
