Personal Narrative: My Experience In The Driving School

It’s a Saturday morning. My mind races as we approach to the parking lot of the driving school, anticipating the experience of driving for the very first time. It’s hard not being able to express the anxiousness felt during the first footstep into the facility. Thy were all strangers to me, and heres where the first journey begins. My parents and I entered the driving school. There we meet with the front receptionist who introduced me to my instructor. His name was Bruce Karr. He says his last name made him think that operating a driving school was the perfect business venture for him. He told me the basic aspects of how to do it and as we were driving the downtown side of Cumming, I practiced my first one. During the first U-turn, I over turned and was a bit too fast, I crossed over the median and was being honked by other people in turning lane. This was the demoralizing point in the drive which is something that you will remember for the rest of your life. At that moment, he tells me this famous Henry Ford quote,”Even a mistake may turn out to be one thing necessary to a worthwhile achievement”. He told me that when he racing that he had committed mistakes that have taught him how to become a better driver and help him win. He says that this is something I am going to have to work on, but as time progressed, I would learn passed my mistakes. With the new wisdom, we continued on to our drive leaving behind the negative moment and practicing again and again until the skill was mastered. With my head up high, I continued on with the driving fixing my mistake, but the true test came at an intersection further ahead. This was my second test on a U-turn with good precision on the turn at a perfect speed and turn angle. My instructor advice payed off that the time and would be something that I hold onto. Now, I incorporate that saying into my life from school to driving to most thing that requires a challenge to be overcome.
