Recommended: Influence of sports on me/the society

“So, they call you Coach, huh? Have you ever stopped to consider what that means” (CTGP)? Coaching is not just a career I want to follow, it is a passion of mine. I grew up my whole life with coaches by my side whether it was football or wrestling. There is no greater honor in my life than helping other players reach their full potential. Through my short life I have come to two conclusions, you always need somebody to look up to and coaching is one of the most inspiring careers you can pursue. October of 2013, my first year of High School, I walked in to a room with glass on the walls. They also require a teaching license in most states. I was interested in Physical Education programs at University North Carolina Pembroke, so I could help kids understand the benefits of activity and exercise. “UNCP’s Health and Physical Education major prepares students to inspire others to higher levels of health and physical fitness” (UNCP). This is just a “summary” of what UNCP will teach their students to help them major in the subject. “Blevins said, if you love people and you have a compassion for people, you want to see them do better. And when you want to see them do better, you’ll work to make them feel more confident about themselves, to help their self-esteem. Really, just to give them joy in their life” (MP). I went there not expecting to get any award besides the Senior Award stating that I wrestled for all four years of my high school night. After the Senior Awards were passed out my coach started calling the other awards. He had finally got to the Coach’s Award then to my surprise he called me to the stage. He starts by saying, “This man has pushed his underclass mates while us coaches focused on the first string, from day one he helped his team and kept them on track and he loves this sport just as much as anyone else his name is Robert Browning.” I felt so much joy when I walked on the stage. After he gave me the award while I walked down he also said, “When I retire I will let you be the head coach.” Everyone laughed, at that time I did not think to much of it, but as the time passed I missed

    I had little to no motivation for a while and thought that maybe wrestling wasn’t the sport for me. I had shown promise in practice but as soon as I got on the mat for a tournament or duel I just drew a blank. I wasn’t executing any of the techniques I had learned after so many repetitive drills. But what made us a strong unit was the fact that we had similar goals and values. None of us wanted to lose and planned to make it past districts. We all wanted to take home hardware not only for our own self recognition but also to bring back a trophy to put on our principal’s desk who just so happened to love the wrestling program about as much as our team.
