They were Federalists, and Anti-federalists, both Patrick Henry and Richard Henry Lee were Anti-federalists. Patrick Henry opposed the U.S. Constitution because he believed that it gave too much power to the central government they wanted a weaker government very worried the constitution did not provide enough protection for the rights of individuals. Worried about the consolidation of power into one government and the corruption that could be involved.
