I believe that Microsoft has the best intensions for society, because they are constantly developing the software market into a more competitive and challenging industry. Microsoft’s success as a company is partly due to its commitment to making the best product possible and strategic business practices. The first reason Microsoft is not a monopoly is because of the standardized quality of its OS. Second is the intelligent business practices Microsoft has engaged in through many of its business partners. The legal issues of the alleged antitrust accusations from the department of justice are just totally overrated.
The standardized quality of MS Windows98 has really made the PC market as a whole take a rocket boost from the past. Most people who oppose this stance would say that standardizing a product wouldn’t cause anything but a monopoly. This is fiction because people choose products that are simply reliable and of good quality. The success of Microsoft’s operating system hasn’t been used to cause a monopoly in the browser marker, but to increase the quality of their software. A statement from Bill Gates on the 7th of December stating “ I am proud of the work our people have done to bring the benefits of the Internet to consumers, and I am confident that the courts ultimately will uphold the importance of the freedom to innovate.” The intensity of the Internet lies in it openness, freedom and incredible reach. It is physically impossible for any individual or company to be its controlling switch, as the number of Internet users continue to grow by easy access due to Internet technologies being added to quality operating systems such as Windows. Internet user will constantly demand high quality and maximum choice, and will travel to wherever they receive the best value for the money and time. As consumer interest in the Internet continues to grow, Microsoft’s role will be what it always has been. Aimed to provide the software building blocks for a rich computing experience and to build into that software all of the open Internet standards, protocols and platforms services which enable developers to write great applications. Even though Microsoft has included Internet capabilities in its Windows operating system since the launch of Windows 95, the Windows platform also provides excellent support for other leading browsers besides Microsoft’s own Internet Explorer.
The software industry is one of the great catalysts of economic growth and job creation.

Through their books, the authors demonstrate their cultural expectations for the rulers. Einhard believes that a ruler should set an example, and shows forced conversions of people in a positive light. Ibn Battuta’s cultural expectations are much more personal –he judges a culture based upon how well he is treated by the rulers. Since he is a scholar of Sharia Law, he thinks that he inherently deserves gifts from rulers. His knowledge of law also causes him to frown upon instances where Islam is not being strictly followed. Despite this slight since of bias, these books serve as rich records of an archaic period in history filled with magnificent kings and leaders.

In the short story “Antojos”, by Julia Alvarez, the protagonist, Yolanda pretends to only know English because she is fearful of the two men that try to speak to her in Spanish. It is evident that she is in fear of the men when “she can feel her pounding heart-- and nods” (Alvarez). It is ironic how she hides her Dominican Republic identity because she wants to connect with her family roots while she was visiting. Yolanda pretends to not know English so that she would be able to understand what the men were saying without them knowing. She uses this strategy as a “fight” method. Sometimes when one is in an uncomfortable situation that can put one’s life in danger, one does whatever one can to survive. This is shown in the poem “Runagate Runagate”, by Robert Hayden, when he says, “Some go weeping and some rejoicing/ Some in coffins and some in carriages/ Some in silks and some in shackles/ Rise and go or fare you well” (Hayden). Ibn Battutah was a Moroccan scholar who traveled to different regions in Asia and Africa. Throughout 1325 to 1354 C.E he traversed the regions of Asia and Africa. Ibn Battutah decided after his second pilgrimage to Mecca, he would travel on the road. He documented each of the travels he did on his journey. He wrote down his experiences, his thoughts, the diverse individuals he met, the customs of the different countries and regions he visited, and the overall state of the regions he visited. Throughout his travels, Ibn Battutah found the cultures, he visited noteworthy. He was critical of some of the unique cultures as well. Some of the practices of the foreign cultures that Ibn Battutah documented completely differed from some of the customs of his culture. The differences in cultures of the made him critical of the places he visited. After Ibn Battutah returned to Morocco in 1354 after his journey, the Sultan of Morocco requested that Ibn Battutah write an account of his travels. Some of the regions Ibn Battutah traversed through are the desert region of Africa, southern Asia, the eastern coast of Africa, and China.
He describes many other places he travels to in the same way, clearly appreciating a very generous, religious and wealthy host. Later, in West Africa, Ibn Battuta is much more critical and disapproving. He is very offended by the women in Mali and says, “Among the bad things which they do- their serving women, slave women and little daughters appear before people naked, exposing their private parts.” More of their “bad” customs are “putting of dust and ashes on their heads as a sign of respect… their poetic recitals… [and] that many of them eat animals not ritually slaughtered, and dogs and donkeys.” Both of these descriptions show the diversity of customs and values across Africa. In 1994, Marc Anderseen invented a new way to search and retrieve information from the Internet: the Netscape Navigator. Netscape’s rising sales and the phenomenal growth of the Internet make its shares go through the roof and even before the Company had any profit; it was valued at $2.7 billion. However, the scenario didn’t go that well for so long and a very powerful and ambitious man came into the picture. Bill Gates put 2,000 of his best programmers to create a browser of his own: The Explorer. The battle of the browsers officially started; Microsoft’s share of the browser market increased from 2.9 percent at the end of 1995 to more than 40 percent by the end of 1997, while Netscape’s market share fell to 54 percent.
The indispensable requirement for hard work is self-discipline. Success is possible only when you can overcome the natural tendency to cut corners and take the easy way. Napoleon Hill wrote that “Persistence is to the character of man, as carbon is to steel.” He also said that “Before success comes in any man’s life he is sure to meet with much temporary defeat and, perhaps, some failure. When defeat overtakes a man, the easiest and most logical thing to do is quit. That is exactly what the majority of men do.” It is your persistence that is your measure of belief in yourself and your capability to succeed. If you can persevere long enough and believe in yourself and your ability to work hard enough, ultimately, you will succeed in any endeavour you set your mind to.
Emotional abuse is defined by its devastating effects on a person. It is seen in the forms of domestic abuse, bullying, and child abuse. Research shows how someone who has been emotionally abused develops personality disorders, has low self-esteem, and even has suicidal thoughts. Although there has been research that provides a general idea of emotional abuse and its effects, the research should take a deeper look at how the smallest details affect someone. My position differs from those who claim they know the true definition of what emotional abuse is. It doesn’t include parents or abusers who claim to know how to define it. The medieval Islamic word for journey, Rihla, was originally associated with camelback riding. Rihla has become to be known a type of literature that fostered “the concept of al-riḥla fī ṭalab al-ʿilm, travel in search of knowledge” and is commonly used in conjunction with Ibn Battuta (“Encyclopedia of Islam”). His Rihla provides insightful detail into the daily life of Islamic culture. Initially Ibn Battuta was both young and ambitious to become a traveler.
