My lifetime goal is helping others and I plan to use my career to fulfill it. The classes I’m taking right now and the ones I’m planning to take senior year are classes I believe will influence my decision in my college major/career as well as counting toward my GPA. This will help me get into schools who have medical programs that I’m considering. Also, taking AP classes can help me save money since I can earn college credit. I’m taking all AP classes, and the electives I’m taking have been classes that have helped me consider being in the medical field. I’ve found that over the years, science and math are what I’m doing better in versus history and english. I believe by being in the medical field, I can help others in the best way I can. …show more content…
I am going to take the class Practicum, which is a health science class where I get to work at a hospital and learn how to become a medical assistant. At the end of the year I will take the licensing exam and hopefully will be able to get a job as a medical assistant. I am also thinking of rejoining HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) because there are medical volunteering opportunities as well as school medical competitions. I now volunteer with the other members at elementary schools, parades downtown, etc. I think volunteering in any form is very good for teaching the values of service, how it’s important to give back to the community and help those who have have helped you. I volunteer for AVID and NHS. I believe that challenging myself to take AP classes that influence my decision in choosing a career path will be beneficial and aide me in achieving my lifetime goal of helping others. It helps me because I’m preparing myself for college by taking rigorous college level courses. Because they are difficult classes, my GPA will be weighted and thus increases my chances of being accepted into schools that can help me achieve my
As for how medical assistants can interact with patient data, it’s recommended that you consult the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for their “meaningful use” requirements. In October 2012, CMS issued a guidance regarding eligible professionals under the meaningful use incentive program. This guidance includes the following statement with regard to medical assistants being allowed to enter data:
I believe that people everywhere should always have access to adequate medical care. Where you live should not determine whether you live, and the PA profession was created to improve the availability of healthcare in rural and other underserved areas. As a PA, I would be eager to help people have not had access to the care they needed. I want to serve those that need medical attention but don’t have the means to obtain it—whether in rural Michigan, the inner-city of Atlanta, or the backwoods of Arkansas. Making great medical care accessible to all is crucial to improving public health, and it is a necessity across this country and the world. As a physician assistant,
Becoming a Medical Assistant believe it or not is an awesome career. Being able to be on the inside and handling emergency hands on is what I will be experiencing. Medical Assistants overall have many job duties and I might add if you are a busy person and you have the urge to help others, then this job is for you. Overall, the objective is to point out the duties, various opportunities and what you will be able to accomplish in the role as a Medical Assistant.
I know that I want to have a career in the medical field, so to prepare for that I have taken many high school science classes, including biology, chemistry 1 and 2, and physics. I’ve also taken many math classes, English 101 and 102 though Grand Rapids Community College and heath classes through Grand Valley State University. These classes have helped prepare me for a medical degree by exposing me to math, science, and college level classes; all of which are particularly important when it comes to trying to receive a medical degree.
William Osler once said, “The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease.” The medical field is one of the most rewarding job fields to work in, being a physician assistant is one of those jobs, what is not to like about helping people in need?
Lawrence Jones, a professor Emeritus in the College of Education at North Carolina State University; studies school counseling and career counseling and development, states, “recent studies show that a good personality-major match is related to college success. Generally, the better the match the better students do. So, unquestionably, choosing a major is one of the most important decisions you will make. ”A good choice in a major could lead to higher grades because you will have more potential to finish your major, it will help you be more motivated, you could finish college in four years, and you will be more fulfilled and well off in your future career (Jones 3). With my own experience so far in college, this depiction of having more motivation which leads to doing better in your classes when you choose a major that you are interested in is accurate. I have loved the sciences ever since high school. All of the classes were just so interesting and I enjoyed learning about science, even if it was hard. When I got into my junior year of high school, I took a chemistry class, did very well in it, and loved it. Ever since then, I have had a passion to study chemistry, which lead me to choose a biochemistry major. Because I love learning about chemistry and biology, I am more motivated to study, which leads me to do better in my science classes. Since I chose a major that I am interested in learning about, I will do better. This is similar to why Mike and Sulley choose their major based on their likes and talents, and this is one way how Monsters University portrays college
“Students also increasingly see AP credits as a ticket into college” stated Viadero, Debra (Viadero,Debra). The College Board craves to see applications with loads of AP classes listed on the application. The classes show that one would be able to survive in a college level class at their university. At nearly every college in the country, your academic record is the most important part of your college application. The people in the admissions office want to see that you have taken the most challenging courses available to you (Grove, Allen). According to the chart above, it shows how many people put an importance on these AP classes

Also, my Genetics lab this semester is doing research on yeast with my teacher Dr. Duina. The goal of our research is to uncover the mechanisms that regulate the interaction between different proteins. The proteins that we will be looking at are histone chaperones, transcription elongation factor Spt16, and the chromatin that is contained in the RNA Polymerase II. We will be using the Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast. At the end of the semester, I will be writing a research paper on the results of our
My goals in college are to get involved with student government, play lacrosse graduate in the top of my class all my life of being in school I was always active not just a regular student. Whether it was SGA or sports or volunteer work I was a part of it; all years of school levels I have graduated with honors and I do not want to see anything different now while I am in college. As we all know college is not a walk in the park and I am well aware of that. I have to really be on my game to accomplish my goal of graduating with honors. I am already on the way of my goal, I have already completed 3 business courses and am now on the process of taking one now. I have taken business law, introduction of business, and industrial business; I did not take them at Towson however they still transferred over as business courses.
I have been taking advantage of educational opportunities such as AP classes and Honors throughout high school because these courses will prepare me for college. In addition, an AP class will help me save money on tuition, and it will also help me graduate sooner. I decided to take my first AP class my sophomore year because I was encouraged by one of my previous teachers. I am glad that I took AP Spanish Language and Culture my sophomore year because that gave me an idea of how much work to expect when I attend college. Since, I was very dedicated to passing the AP test, I developed new study skills such as asking questions, making flashcards, and taking cornell notes. All of these study skills were very helpful because I passed the AP exam.
Since starting this class, introduction to health care, I have begun to think about what the future holds for me and what I will pursue with my college degree. At this point in time my career goal is to become a physician assistant in orthopedic surgery. I plan on working in a hospital setting where I can continue to learn and practice my profession. Five years after all my schooling and achieving my license, professionally I see myself working at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, New York, which is a teaching hospital. I would be working on and with patients, while still learning as I practice my previous knowledge. I would be seeing patients with injuries such as an ankle sprain, evaluating x-rays, and possibly sitting on and
Volunteering is an important contributor to our society. It is also a great opportunity to learn different skills, especially young people, and they will become a part of who you are. Your future employers will thank you for it, as will any college or university that you decide to apply too. It is also a perfect way for everyone to meet different people and experience different things. Volunteering not only actively will help people; it also helps the environment. Most of all, it allows you to become a better person for what you have
A reflection of my volunteering experience can be summarized in two words: Life-changing. It is hard to explain the feelings that occur when you involve yourself in selfless acts for your community, such as volunteering. There is a feeling in your heart that you cannot ignore, maybe it is the happiness you feel or the overflow of emotions in helping others. In other words, it is a feeling in which you want to share with others. Maybe with a friend, maybe a classmate, maybe a family member, or maybe even a stranger. Either way, spreading how life-changing volunteering can be is a great start to making a positive change in your community by simply by involving others.
Volunteering impacted me socially and mentally while influencing my plan for the future. I hope to continue helping others and contributing my skills to
