Martin Luther King, Jr., overcame struggles during his time which were, racism, discrimination and segregation. He was not always named Martin and neither was his father. Around the first time Martin, Jr., got baptized him and his father changed their names from Michael to Martin. King was born on January 15, 1929. He died on April 4, 1968. Martin graduated with a bachelor's degree in divinity studies. He then enters Boston University. Not to long after that did he marry Corrette Scott in Marion, Alabama, on June 18, 1953. He had three kids by the names of Yolanda Denise, Martin Luther King the third, Bernice Albertina and Dexter Scott. All during this time colored people are being discriminated against and Martin wants to put a stop to it. Because of his acts to stop racism his birthday was made a national holiday on November 2, 1983.

Racism was huge during the life of Martin Luther King. Racism is the intolerance of another race. Whites in this case were dominant over the blacks. Martin Luther was a black man. King did not see why they had to live this way or why color should matter. He thought of racism as a sin. King did everything in his will to stop racism. He was a civil rights leader and a great one at that too. King led the civil rights movement to fight for equality against the different races. He spoke many speeches and rebelled in several ways. King thought the answer to stop racism would be from the power of God. He believed that because everyone, including blacks and white, believed in God that in his name they should all be equal. King once wrote a quote that states, "Evil can be cast out, not by man alone nor by a dictatorial God who invades in our lives, but when we open the door and invite God throug...

... buses' black men, like King himself, had to sit in the back of the bus while whites took up the front, or they had to stand so the whites could have a seat. Whites always came first. Martin wanted to end segregation on the buses so he did. He wanted to boycott all the buses' and this ended the segregation on buses. King became famous but went on speaking his speeches, yet the whites still did not agree that whites and blacks should be treated equally.

Not long after this did Martin die at the age of 30 by a man named James Earl Ray. Martin made a huge impact on racism. He even stopped some of the segregated things going on such as the bus boycott. He won many awards including being the youngest man to win a nobel peace prize. He became a symbol of nonviolent protest for equal rights for blacks. Furthermore, he overcame his struggles in a peaceful manner.
