In the image, the box in the left bottom corner reads: Handle with Care. This ironically shows how uncared for this man is, as well as fragile. This also shows how he does not have family around him unlike the people in the back of the photo. Another satirical thing that can be observed is the name on the boxes which is Jerzees. This is a less expensive sports company. This shows how the man can not afford Nike, Adidas, or any other expensive name brand sports gear, which is a constant reminder of what he can not have. The viewer can also see a Burger King sign in the back of the image. The Burger King slogan does not apply to this social class at all. The sign incongruously reminds the reader how the homeless man can not “have it his way”. The article discusses multiple examples of street art and shows the different viewpoints that those street artworks provoke. Lauren Collins successfully provides information of Banksy and his street artwork along with support of various viewpoints from credible individuals. She effectively uses the rhetorical devices of ethos, identification, and visual rhetoric to hold the attention of the audience, the trust of the audience, and to provide the mysterious background of Banksy and his street art.
He said “My whole life I had been a people person.” To this quote he means that he used to be a wealthy man and that he did not know what the struggle of not having money to eat was like. He too emphasizes that “…,this begging, was far more difficult.” He gives credibility by speaking his thoughts of when he gave those people on the streets and that they underwent with different stories like “I need to buy a bus ticket to Spokane so I can go visit my dying mother” or “I lost my wallet this morning, and I need five dollars for gas” he suspected that all these stories seem made-up. The work’s authenticity would be difficult to question if it is of Banksy’s quality work, assuming the real Banksy doesn’t make a statement regarding that piece’s creation. I don’t see why this would happen if the work is on par with Banksy’s, as he is protesting for the unknown artist, unless Banksy desired to give credit where it is deserved, therefore that artist receive a positive review by Banksy giving him an “in” into the art community and opportunity for further success.
Many social problems exist in today’s society, among them is homelessness. In our nation, we encounter homeless people in our day-to-day lives, yet we rarely question the reasons for their circumstance. Through the symbolic interactionist perspective, I will explore the causes of homelessness in order to help find possible solutions.
As my friends and I were driving home from the mall the other afternoon, an older, disheveled-looking man was standing on the street corner holding a "I will work for food" sign. "He's just looking for easy money," commented one friend. While this is a possible reason, a more complicated one came to my mind. Perhaps this was a homeless man who had used up his time at the local shelter. Many people do not think homelessness is a problem, but the homeless people, mostly unseen, exist in ever-increasing numbers.
Does money control today's society? The Younger family is an African American family in Chicago in the 1950s. The family lives in a small and ratty one window apartment. They are an “average” family who receives the proceeds from a $10,000 life insurance policy from the death of Walter Lee Sr. Everyone in the family has their own idea of what they want to do with the money, if it was up to one of them. The author's story setting is in the apartment surrounded by various conflicts, conversations and actions of the characters. The story line is only a couple of days, but in that time the author is able to show how poverty can have a negative effect on the Younger family.
In the article “Revolution in a Can” by Blake Gopnik, he states, “The most elaborate images from Egypt, Libya, and Haiti today look very much like the 1980s paint jobs on New York subway cars and warehouse facades, and yet their point is not to function as art but to work as carriers of content and opinion” (114). In other words, graffiti is used to show how people truly feel inside. This is important because in addition to being considered art, it also serves the function of expressing oneself if that freedom does not exist. As a matter of fact pieces like this can be found all over the world. They are located on the Palestinian West Bank, on a wall on Benghazi in Libya, and in Tahrir Square in Egypt. One of the two ways that affects young people’s daily life is bringing a different approach to art regarding ideologically and socially. First of all, graffiti has brought a different ideological approach to art. After the 1960s, the youth throught about arts and they critisized it. They throught art were captured into museums and galleries. They point on view brought to art a new ideological discipline named as a street art. People began to make art together at streets. Then, more and more people have got interested in art and its new ideology. Generally, young people have made graffiti, talked about it and changed it if they have not liked. For example, Banksy, who began to work with stencils in 1981 in Paris, is one of the artists, who have affected young people the most with his graffities. Banksy made his graffities illegally at the beginning. He insisted on making street art and continued to make graffiti on the street. Today, with the legalization of making street art, many young people consider Banksy as one of the pioneers of the street art and they have made his graffities everywhere. When it comes to seeing homeless people on the streets, just walking by them and not paying any mind to them is the first thought that runs through our heads. Sometimes, we think giving them food and supplies is making a big difference. But that is only a small difference. When asking the homeless what we can do to help, they give us answers. But they way we want to help costs to much, we don’t have enough space, or we just aren’t giving them what they actually want.

Money in a traditional sense no longer exists. Money is becoming much of a concept than a physical material, and most ordinary bitter have not see the reality of the switch. People today are using credit and debit cards on a regular basis and in everyday situations such as meal purchased at fast food, highway tolls, clothing, groceries, gas stations, etc. all of these means of systems could be regarded as a cashless society or world. Street art contains satire, societal injustices, and humor (Lacktman 17). According to the Columbia Survey, receiving requests in person makes citizens more willing to defend beggars rights. This demonstrates those who are confronted with begging are more likely to want to help. Crimninlaistion creates a paradox because giving to beggars is seen as a good deed while begging is seen as immoral. Therefore beggars strengthen the bonds of citizenship.
