1. Johannes Gutenberg (1395-1468) was a German inventor. Born to a patrician in Mainz, little is known about him other than that he acquired skill in metalworking. He also worked with others in partnerships, but they eventually became suspicious as they were never told of his actual work. He created the printing press using movable type. This allowed for the rapid printing of bibles and the spread of different ideas. This also led to increased literacy. Gutenberg was one of the most influential and important people in the development of Europe in the 1400’s because of his invention of the printing press. The printing press was crucial to the development of Europe. It allowed for increased communication all across Europe. Also, it gave more chances for people to read. Higher availability of books led to more education and literacy for more people.
2. Adolf Hitler (1889-1945) was a powerful German dictator who started World War II, killed millions of innocent people, and destroyed countless works of art and historical artifacts. In World War II alone, it is said that over fifty million civilians and troops died. Hitler singled out racial minorities and the Jewish population to be exterminated. On September 1st, 1939 Germany invaded Poland, which started World War II in Europe. The war between Germany and the Soviet Union was one of the deadliest and largest wars of all mankind. It caused an overall change in Jewish people’s lives because they lost family members, homes, and the reason to live. There was a political shift in climate during that time because of the mass genocide it caused. Germany went from a place where people lived to a huge European power that singled out one race.
Before the invention of the printing press, any writing done, whether it was a book, or drawing, or copies of the Bible had to be completed painstakingly by the hand. Every letter, every word, every sentence, had to be written down by hand. It took almost over an entire year to write a single book. In addition to the large amount of time spent, people often made mistakes delaying the publishing of the book. The effects of these scarce, handwritten copies were that education and learning was very limited. Desperate for fame and money, German Johannes Gutenberg changed all of that. In 1450, Gutenberg created the first ever printing press, built and improved existing printing methods. Soon, by the 1500’s printing shops were located everywhere in the major cities of Europe. The man was, Adolf Hitler, an Austrian born man who fought for the Germans during the First World War. After World War II Hitler joined the Nazi party. After years of dedication to the party he rose through the ranks and became the leader of the Nazi party. After advertising the party and expanding it Hitler became a politician, and decided to run for public office. He was voted as the new Prime Minister of Germany. He changed laws so if the Chancellor were to die the Prime Minister would become the new Chancellor. Once Hitler became Chancellor history would be forever changed by his actions.

A movable type was where individual blocks could be set up in order to print almost anything. Before this, wooden blocks, carved by hand were used to print things. These blocks would have consisted of what the individual wanted to print which would take an incredible amount of time.
